Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 If you're going to have something from Switzerland, it might as well be Lindor chocolates.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 Puma reports it is indeed a Tahoe and Soto said it cost $92k
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 What are the odds this is a Chevy thing ? Like did Soto actually slap down his card and pay for it ? Does Baty pay taxes ,or is this a gift ? How do these things work ?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 From the IRS website:Who pays the gift tax? The donor is generally responsible for paying the gift tax. Under special arrangements the donee may agree to pay the tax instead. Please visit with your tax professional if you are considering this type of arrangement. What is considered a gift? Any transfer to an individual, either directly or indirectly, where full consideration (measured in money or money's worth) is not received in return.

Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland, and water resistant to three atmospheres. They can tell time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 Did Al Leiter have to buy number 22 from anyone?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 I remember reading one time (likely during Christmas season) that buying a car for someone else as a gift is somewhat difficult. It's certainly legal and possible, but there is a lot of red tape and forms involved.

I think he'd send somebody by your house and you and he would come to an understanding.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 He could have followed Carlos Beltran's lead and bought his teammate a nose job.

I did this in Connecticut when I "sold" my car to my grandson. He had no problems registering the car. There has to be a bill of sale (it can be hand written) and it has to show the buyer paid sales tax (whichever state in which the sale was conducted). The bill of sale has to be shown when the car is registered. I'm sure the ballplayer/seller's attorney will know if there are any other details.Later

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted February 20, 2025 Posted February 20, 2025 Yeah, the article I read was one in response to Xmas car commercials, 96% of which seem to involve someone being surprised by a brand new car in the driveway on Christmas morning.'Cute, but not so easily done' was the gist of the piece.

Maybe Soto even decided to pick himself up a spare Maserati or Lamborghini for a rainy day or for when his main ride breaks down while he was out there car-shopping.
