  1. I would guess 3yrs @ $105mm or 4 years @$125-$130mm could get it done. I don’t see Pete getting a $40mm AAV for a multiyear deal. Am I wrong? Will his market be higher than that? He‘ll be 31.

Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: The (Undefeated) Tuesday Night Mets Club will be at this one, being it a Tuesday night game How many games has the TNMC attended, and to what do you attribute this good fortune? Is it simply your presence or are there other factors involved? Specific articles of clothing worn for instance? Inquiring minds want to know.
  3. And actually the poppy patches are a very nice and understated honor. They could sell these jerseys which I bet a lot of people would buy and then donate the profits the veterans. That would make too much sense though.
  4. Frayed Knot wrote: Is this the first time for the poppy on the uni for Memorial Day? Both teams are wearing the same one so I assume this is a league-wide deal. I tend to think of the poppy symbol as more an English (and therefore also Canadian) tradition for 'Remembrance (Veterans) Day' but not so much an American thing. From https://uni-watch.com/2025/05/23/mlb-teams-to-wear-poppy-patches-for-memorial-day-2/https://uni-watch.com/2025/05/23/mlb-teams-to-wear-poppy-patches-for-memorial-day-2/ Per MLB: On-Field & Uniform Elements As an additional tribute to service men and women our Nation has lost, all on-field MLB personnel will wear the traditional Memorial red poppy on the left side of their jerseys with “Lest We Forget” language included. The uniforms will not be sold at retail to the public. Memorial Day themed base jewels and lineup cards will be used to commemorate the day. As has been the case since 2019, the poppy-patched jerseys will not be available for retail sale. All MLB teams playing on Memorial Day (Monday, May 26th) will also observe the National Moment of Remembrance. All Clubs whose games are active at 3:00 p.m. (Local Time) will temporarily pause for an extended moment of silence to participate in this unified moment of gratitude. I am genuinely stunned that MLB does not take advantage of this holiday to make more hideous merchandise to sell.

I was hoping the statute of limitations had run out, but apparently not. So it's a radio night for me. Because it's on Apple TV it's a radio night for me as well. Still amazed they offer local radio pbp for either team as an option.
  7. I remember Young and Floyd now that you say it. I guess I block those things out. Kinda squeamish that way, One of my late mother's favorite jokes - ‘What do you call a Jewish guy that that can't stand the sight of blood?' ‘A lawyer!' (I'm a Jew, it's ok)
  8. ‘Ironically, it needs to be DOGE-ed'. HA!

  10. Ouch. I think the only other time I saw a guy obviously break a bone on a baseball diamond was Dave Dravecky when his arm basically broke off of his body after throwing a pitch in Montreal. Anyone remember that? Gruesome.
  11. METROPOLITAN? METROSEXUAL? EITHER WAY, THIS METS LEGEND IS THE CROSS-DRESSING, GENDER-BENDING CAPTAIN OF OUR HEARTS! Too much?
  12. I like this thread too. I get a kick out of watching people's heads explode for no good reason.
  13. Any day now Soto will get a big hit.

  16. A healthy Alcantara under team control below market value for 3 years of what should be his prime, gets 3 of whatever combination of Scott/Sproat/Tong/Acuna/Mauricio/Williams that they want. If they want a starter from the big club to replace Sandy, I’d give them two from the above list and Megill. But what do I know?
  17. Zero for me as well. Ron Hodges Bruce Boisclair Al Weis Lastings Milledge Dan Norman Willie Montanez Ed Hearn Steve Henderson Mark Bomback
  18. If the bats actually are making a difference expect pitchers to adjust. End of story.
  19. Howie is right, the ‘NEW YORK' is too small on the uniforms.
  20. Last season AppleTV had an option to listen to either team's local radio broadcast. If they still offer that, it's an easy call.

  22. Anybody trying to stream this? Fortunately I am watching in my living room via my old fashioned ‘cable provider' on a television and all is well. Occasionally I do stream though depending on my location and/or situation via the SNY app. MLB now having taken that over from SNY, I thought I'd test it out today. So far, NO GOOD. Anybody else?
