Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 FOX just (very briefly) flashed up a stat showing that the Dodgers have had 2x as many ABs as the Mets w/RiSP and 4x as many hits.If that don't 'splain this series I'm not sure that anything else will
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Or two next inning.Young back out to spare the rest o' the pen. I think Acuña is their next pitcher.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 "YOU ALL FUCKING SUCK!!" yells a fan who appears to regret his ticket-purchasing decision.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Yeah, calm down, Greg
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Big rally here. Don't miss it
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Mark Vientos will hit a HR to make it 10-3. Yay.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Stat cited as the Inning closed there: this was the first 'clean' inning for the Mets since the 4th inning in game 3So, iow, no clean innings for the last 13!!!!! for NYM pitching.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Alvarez should put on upside down crosses, and devote himself to the devil
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Getting something going here!
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Go get em tomorrow 💪
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 Tomorrow, the Mets will have the Dodgers responding as if they were covered in tarantulas.I have foreseen it.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 If there is any silver lining here maybe it's that Stearns and Cohen have seen how far the Mets are from being the team to beat. We got our asses kicked. Ok. Now let's build a team that can compete with these guys. It starts with Soto.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 I'm not sure they win this series but I do think they have fight in them to send it back to LA, and I'll take that small victory. And I do agree this is a stark reminder that the Mets are not as good as they have seemed at times.Lot of bad ju-ju at the park tonight, alas. Fans tried hard but this was a tough one. You can only lose the game once. Let's win tomorrow.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 17, 2024 Posted October 17, 2024 I can report that it was indeed cold and late at Citi Field tonight. Also rather futile. Still, I feel lucky to have experienced 2024 Mets postseason baseball up close. Never saw it coming five months ago.Let's at the very least inconvenience L.A. and make them play a little longer.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Watching the Mets last night reminded me of the line in the movie Blazing Saddles, "Are we doing anything meaningful here , or are we just j--king off?"Later
