Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Last 'easy' game of the year, with Phils, Braves, Brewers closing things out.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 DJ Herz starts for the Nats. Lefthander. Overall numbers are pretty good. 3.70 ERA, 1.21 WHIP. He's been sharp his last two outings. 10 IP, 1 ER. In his two starts against, the Mets, he was tagged for 4 runs in 4 and a third back on June 4. A month later, he shut down the Mets for 1 run over 5.2 IP. Might be a low scoring game. Quintana will have to be sharp.

Hopefully they'll be coasting by season end, though they could still be fighting for a higher playoff seed.If we can sweep the Braves, maybe we'll be coasting by then as well.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 Theoretically the Mets could win out and simplify the issues at hand
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 I don't know that Alvarez is helping himself catching on one kneeThey called a wild pitch on Quintana but Alvyboom just waved at it

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 Quintana got out of a jam. It wasn't easy Acuna looks like a natural at short
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2024 Author Posted September 18, 2024 Gary and Ron suggested Drew Gilbert get a September 1 call up. Although injured for a long stretch he is doing well in Triple A of lateWouldn't it make sense to dfa Reyes and promote a Drew Gilbert or Luke Ritter?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 I'm not sure why that's an in-game matter, but DFA'ing Reyes for Gillie would leave them with four infielders.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Tyrone Taylor finds gaps. And when Tyrone Taylor finds gaps, Mets score.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 This is, like, 22 consecutive scoreless innings for our Opening Day starter.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Might be a good game for Ottovino.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Ottavino pitched yesterday, along with Brazobán and Alex Young, although it was his first outing in a week.I think Ryne Stanek is our most neglected asset right now. Hasn't appeared in the series.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 So, nine (or more) runs in a game, all in one inning.I mean it's not a fact yet, but it's not something that could have happened all that often.I'm sure Gary will be filled in by someone. And if that doesn't happen Greg will know off the top of his head.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Hey, a Darren Baker ground-rule double. Boooo! I mean Yayyyy!!! I'm not sure how I feel.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2024 Posted September 18, 2024 Deep tater tot conversation in the radio booth.Howie is accusing the Nats of giving the Mets a last-day-of-spring-training effort.
