Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Boy, Butto has been a real find in the bullpen. Now, just score a run, boys.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Sale has retired 11 in a row, so of course he gets pulled.Thank you, universe.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 9 - 1 - 2 to win it.I don't think the Braves go to a LHP cuz Mets would just ph for DJ and he'd have to stay in and face a righty-swinging Lindor
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Why is Nimmo not pinch hitting here?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 I also would leave Diaz in for a second inning.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Not sure what Alvarez is upset about ... but I'll take the out.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 What's more suicidal — breaking for the plate on bunt, or making hard contact with Álvarez?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Phil Maton, ladies and gentlemen
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 JD - Pete - Vientos w/Iglesies runningGotta cash this one in.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 The Braves running into all these outs, and I guess we just don't appreciate how frustrated Brian Snitker has been with his bats.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Actually putting a ball in play would enhance the odds of scoring the free runner.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 (edited) Well, three bad plays by the Braves in the last two innings gift-wrapped this one for the Metsies, but I'll take it.https://covers.shakespeareandcompany.com/97818474/9781847498601.jpg> Edited July 25, 2024 by Guest
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 I like that Butto went 3 innings in relief and threw 40 pitches tonight. I have a bad feeling they will need him stretched out to make some starts before this season is over, but a good feeling about how he'll handle it

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 A big win for the Mets. Only 3 hits on the night, but they made them count. Sale pitched a great game, but the Met staff got the job done tonight. 5 innings with no hits allowed by the bullpen.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Didn't use Nunez and Diaz didn't have a stressful inning, so they'll be available tomorrow.

When you're playing under the clown car extra inning rules where, as the visiting team, you have to -- HAVE TO -- get AT LEAST one runand preferably two, giving up an out with a Sac Bunt and then another with not just a squeeze play but a suicide squeeze reeks of desperation.Five straight losses for the Braves, four straight wins for the Mets. That's a lotta ground made up in less than a week.

When you've got a tie game in the bottom of the 9th, I'm going with my best on-base guy if he's sitting on the bench…who would also be a defensive upgrade if the game went to extras.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 We need to lo-key get some outfielders who can hit (note: this does not include Stewart, Gamel, or Bradley Jr.).

They're pressing so hard that, if you can''t beat them, you can just hang in there long enough for them to beat themselves.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 With the Phils idle, and the rest of the division losing, the Mets pull within 10 games of first for the first time since May 14.With the fifth-best record in the league, they now sit in the second Wild Card slot, with Braves a half game ahead with the first, the Padres a half game behind with the third, and the Cardinals suddenly on the wrong side of the line.
