G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Mets and Cards a little after four on Fox. Vientos up for Marte (bereavement list); Nuñez up for Smith (injured list). Houser starts for the City Connecting home team, Sony Gray for the visitors.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Tough matchup. Hopefully the Cards forget how to hit again.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 In the history of high-end electronics marketing initiatives, few look back on the Sony Gray campaign with much fondness.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 My family is at a wedding in Poughkeepsie, alas I am homeAdrian Houser is likely pitching to keep his spot in the rotation. Megill and others are close to readyLook at JD rocking the four holeLGM
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Nice unisRough start. Lots of empty seats
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 DJ Stewart making his first outfield start.Columbia Presbyterian patch is switched from a royal blue base to slate grey.
Radar Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Houser really sucks so far for sure.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Mets getting tub-thumped in City Connect.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 More like Adrian HOSER, if you ask me.https://canadathroughmyeye.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/bobdoug10.jpg>
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Yo, Adrian, you did it. Way to take a four run dump to start the game.Stupid uniforms. Fox broadcasting crew. Gray weather. Not really working for me on any level at this point.
Radar Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Well they went cheap and short term looking to next season. Overall the pitching less Senga has been better than I expected.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Holy crap! Just turned it on it's 4-sniffle already through 1 and 1/2...
Radar Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Houser may not stay in this rotation very long.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Houser falling below mediocreMets have quite a few options to line the rotation and most are of similar abilityC'mon Senga
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 The bridge decal spanning the brim on the Mets batting helmets give them a very gladiator Coliseum look
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 I wouldn't draw long-term conclusions mid-game over a bad first inning.FOX announcer: "And that's ANOTHER 1-2-3 inning for Sonny Gray."Edgy MD: "And by 'another, you must mean that it was his first."
Radar Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Houser should stick with batting practice.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Houser's era is 7.45 and I am considering that. He's not historically good enough to be given great latitude I want a playoff bound season. He needs to step up

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Houser reminds me of Brian Lawrence or Jose Lima circa 2007/2006, respectively. If the Mets miss out on the playoffs because of 2-3 unfortunate losses early in the season, Houser will be the guy to blame I think.Had the Mets chosen a better name that Brian Lawrence (1-2, 6.83 in 6 starts) in 2007, they might have had enough padding to withstand the collapse toward the end of the year. If they hadn't pitched Lima (0-4, 9.87 ERA in 4 starts) in 2006, they could have been a 100-win team.

whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Enjoying it. Couldn't care less who's airing it…it's a treat for me. I'll bet my mom's even watching
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Houser's mainstream stats were bad. His peripherals were worse. Never understood the move. Hopefully this is his last start.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 José Lima was signed to a minor-league contract during spring training and didn't appear as a big leaguer until May when John Maine got hurt a second time.Whatever Houser is, he's not José Lima.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 The point is, hindsight might show that had they made different moves, history might wind up dramatically different.
