Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 I thought they'd had it with this guy and his incessant letting-the-other-team-stealing.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 SNY saying Mets and Adam Ottavino have signed a deal for about $4.5 million -- about $2 million less than the option he turned down.https://sny.tv/articles/adam-ottavino-returning-mets-one-year-dealhttps://sny.tv/articles/adam-ottavino-returning-mets-one-year-deal Hopefully he is spending the winter working on a pickoff move.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 I would have expected "A Man Called Otto "
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 Good signing especially with Robertson being off the market now.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 I think this is good news.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Certainly helps but this is still a bad bullpen getting to Diaz.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 Good move. Diaz/Ottavino/Raley could be a great 'pen. Then after that, it's going to be complete and total calamity, like it was in 2023. Reed Garrett is still on the roster, for crying out loud. And Raley was kind of a surprise, but let's hope he can keep it together. Either way, Ottavino is a good one.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted January 28, 2024 Posted January 28, 2024 I expect he will strengthen the back end of the bullpen.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2024 Posted January 29, 2024 He helps, a little. And the money he just signed for is non-deferred, which apparently makes it worth more in the long run than what he turned down.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 29, 2024 Author Posted January 29, 2024 I was relieved when Ottavino walked and indifferent at best now that's back. I fully acknowledge that he's a pretty good pitcher, has the right experience for this team, etc. But probably no pitcher in baseball had his drawbacks exposed more glaringly in the New Stealing Era.
