Any word on this? I caught some of the web streams and the sound was practically inaudible. I mean, I could hear the questions but not so much Cohen. He might as well have been talking from a soundproofed isolation chamber with six feet thick walls. I couldn't get to a TV so I don't know if the TV sound was any better.

He basically said deal with it, he wouldn't commit to anything like trading verlander & scherzer, wants a baseball president but they're hard to find, has some hop that quintana and relief pitchers coming back. Talked to McNeil who feels he's close to coming back

He was available and accountable, even if he had no actionable answers beyond acknowledging this season hasn't been good and swears they're working on making the organization better in the long term. Wants to hire a president of baseball ops, but will be patient to procure the right person.

Wants to attract the best talent and being reactionary ( firing people) isn't the way to do that

Read somewhere that Jeff Wilpon has interviewed for the President of

Baseball Operations post but I have not [CROSSOUT]been[/CROSSOUT] confirmed that anywhere

else so it could just be some internet chucklehead taking the piss.

How do you know they were dumb? Were they eating sandwiches without unwrapping them first?

He also said the Mets won't be buyers at the trade deadline if the team doesn't improve by then, and may move some older veterans.

In addition to looking for a President of Baseball Operations, he said he won't get rid of Buck or Eppler this year.

I heard them talking before they switched to the press conference audio. They're some WFAN guys who apparently simulcast on SNY.

That would be the Carton and Roberts Show. Not an easy listen or watch

on the best of the best days.

Ultimately Steve wants to flip the team for a profit someday.

He's not a fanboi dying to win, that's what

I'm not sure how this became about reselling the team, but if he wants to flip the team for a profit (which is practically guaranteed at the point of purchase anyhow), wouldn't his profit be greater if his team wins more between now and then?

I don't know how anyone would get the vibe that Steve Cohen wants anything other than to win or that 'flipping' the team is anywhere near the top of his priority list.

Steve Cohen has enough profits. He doesnt need to invest his time in the New York Mets for that. His priority list for the Mets likely includes 1) winning 2) enjoying himself 3) improving his public image/legacy from being the guy who paid a gigantic SEC fine.
