Yeah ok

LOL! I think you mean what Tiger fans felt back on August 31st of 2017 was akin to the Mets on 6/15/1977

Traded by the Detroit Tigers with a player to be named later and cash to the Houston Astros for Franklin Pérez (minors), Daz Cameron and Jake Rogers. The Detroit Tigers sent Juan Ramirez (minors) (October 13, 2017) to the Houston Astros to complete the trade.

But sure, trade a guy who pitched for three months to the guy literally named The Franchise.

And compare a course correction to a mess brought on by an insane ownership situation and baseball incompetence.

I have no idea why anyone would read these tweets and even less why they'd repeat them ... but that seems to be the way the world works these days and I'm old and out of it.

Yes, of course.

Indian Giver Gazzette is pretty amusing. That kind of satire would never

fly nowadays some sixty years later.

There was an entire Seinfeld episode on the subjects. You know, back in the 90's when you could make a joke.

Tell me about it. One guy here thinks F Troop should be banned. Ohmygod! Think of the children! But he doesn't find Trump offensive. Go figure. Anyways, here's a giant-sized Indians card, channeling that Seinfeld episode. There are about 10 of these cards in the series.

lol. You woulda never admitted that you found the card "amusing" if you knew where that card came from. hahhahha.

I have no idea what this means.

Here's some trivia, Indian Giver was a Ramones song that never

appeared on an album except the pictured greatest hits album...

Ooh, that Elizabeth Warren one was cold.

The Mets traded for 4 shortstops, but at a young age the best players are shortstops. Hell, Jacob deGrom was a shortstop. Eventually they grow into their bodies and become third basemen or second basemen or outfielders. Not really too concerned about a 17-or 18-year-old's position; I'm concerned whether they can hit and are reasonably athletic.

This is NOTHING like 1977. The Seaver trade ripped my heart out. The Scherzer trade was, "Wow, cool, we got Ronald Acuna's little brother".

And (I didn't know this until this morning) Indian Giver is a cover and

performed by all these artists:

1910 Fruitgum Co 1969 First release

The Tonics 1969

Jalopy Five 1969

The Honeys 1983

Ramones 1987

Joan Jett and The Blackhearts 1993

22 Pistepirkko 1998

The Grand Prixx 2001

The TwiX twat was talking about the Verlander deal. But yeah, 16 games out of a legendary pitcher and a course correcting deal compared to The Franchise and an incompetent mess of a FO and ownership group isn't even comparing round fruit to each other!

Best line of the month, and it's only the morning of the 2nd.

We were robbed of Seaver's 200th win in a Mets uniform. We missed his 250th and his 300th. These were sacred milestones to Mets fans that were somehow achieved for someone else's cause.

We got to see Verlander's 250th win and it was like "I guess that's cool, because it beats losing, but whatev ... oh, you traded him?"

Part of that is just being old, but a big part is the knowledge that these guys were always just passing through. If Pete Alonso were to go, it wouldn't "rip my heart out," because I'm already a crotchedy old fuck whose heart is made of crumpled, rusted scrap metal, but I recognize how it would do painful things to a ten-year-old heart that trading Justin Verlander could never do.

I said earlier that using Verlander's 2017 trade to the Astros from the Tigers was a much better comp to 1977 Seaver in terms of how the two fanbases felt.

And the Tigers didn't even get a Flynn, Zachary or Henderson type out of their haul, never mind they still haven't finished over .500 since the previous season. Verlander was clearly a rental deal as the team was going through a downturn that they haven't climbed out of, though he did sign with the Astros in the offseason. So that was clearly a more similar deal and probably was up there in terms of soul crushing for fans of the Tigers.

Don't even know where that OP was coming from even saying that going from the Mets back to the Astros was even slightly similar.

But I think it's more that it's not even remotely comparable more so than it's a case of “seen this happen to my team/favorite players dozens of times now in my decades of rooting for them/I've been made well aware now about how the sausages are made for decades now!”

But her headband matches her jacket! That one was VicSage's favorite, too. But he was partial to anything Elizabeth Warren.

There are at least 10 more in that series. Here's a few more:

and bringing it all back home to Harry Chiti

Even if true, what's the difference anyways? You admitted that the card was "amusing". That's enough. Gotcha.

The one I remember is probably 1910 Fruitgum. Just a guess

I won't get around to it until tomorrow but I bet the Joan Jett

cover is really good.
