Loved watching him mash here in the Cuse last year and again this spring. He's ready. Get all the kids in there ! Mauricio will be next if he can show he's capable at 2B.

Does he still strike out too much? That's my question.

He struck out 32% (of AB) last year and 24% this year.

So he's apparently made progress.

So, who do we vote off the island?

My vote goes to Pham.

The Mets roster is currently rocking only four starting pitchers, so they can send down a reliever for a few days until they are forced to use that rotation slot, and so punt this decision down the road a day or two before Carrasco rejoins the rotation.

It might make sense then to call up Mauricio, but that would mean de-Canha or de-Phamming the Mets. The problem is those guys are also the backup CFers

Vientos for Guillorme is up on the Mets transaction page, which probably is as official as it gets from the public side of things.

On the other hand, the page is listing Vientos as a shortstop, which he hasn't played since 2017.

That's a cruel cut. Gitmo was fun to watch but he hasn't been hitting

We've been watching way too much Luis G and Tommy Pham play for a playoff caliber team...both are reserve players, when they start starting too much then it means that someone that should be performing isn't

Does he platoon with Baty, perhaps?

wouldn't surprise me with Buck...but IMO, Baty should be playing vs LHP...I don't see why he can't split time between 1B, 3B, DH and LF...with Pete getting some DH time

I think that the Mets moved him from shortstop because he was too tall...Mauricio is just as tall as he is...

also we're all out of reserve shortstops, unless that's Escobar's job now

Escobar has played all 9 positions on the diamond...plenty of SS/2B experience prior to being a Met...it's not like Buck is giving Lindor any time off anyhow...if something happened to Lindor, I think that the SS solution would be on the current Syracuse Mets roster

I agree. I hope he's able to stay in the organization.

Luis G has an option left, so I don't think that he's leaving the organization...but it might also help Mauricio with his getting ready for a utility or 2B role with the Mets; Luis G might be able to do for him at the AAA level that Jose Reyes supposedly did for Amed Rosario a few years ago

Jose Reyes is not a positive influence on society as a whole

that might be true, but that was supposedly the Mets intention was to have Reyes mentor Rosario

I have a suspicion that Vientos might be sent back for some more seasoning, if only briefly.

Narváez is close to ready, and though three catchers isn't a great fit for anybody, Vientos isn't a strong fit as it is, and he's not getting a ton of reps.

It's not a palatable option, but neither is releasing Escobar or DFA'ing Nido. Álvarez can become the righthanded DH as well as sharing catching duties, and the roster will remain flexible enough that Vientos could return when the first available spot opens, no matter who opens it.

He probably mostly is, at least for now, but the future may hold any number of paths.

Fielders should be assigned ERAs in addition to pitchers.

They pretty much are. Check out, among other websites, the standard fielding section at BBRef for any position player.
