Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Loved watching him mash here in the Cuse last year and again this spring. He's ready. Get all the kids in there ! Mauricio will be next if he can show he's capable at 2B.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 Does he still strike out too much? That's my question.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Looking forward to seeing him, not ideal situation, but is it ever

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 The Mets roster is currently rocking only four starting pitchers, so they can send down a reliever for a few days until they are forced to use that rotation slot, and so punt this decision down the road a day or two before Carrasco rejoins the rotation.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Martino has a source saying Guillorme is going to be optioned down.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 That's a cruel cut. Gitmo was fun to watch but he hasn't been hitting
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 I agree. I hope he's able to stay in the organization.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 also we're all out of reserve shortstops, unless that's Escobar's job now
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 If Martino's source is correct, yeah, that will have to be part of his portfolio.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Author Posted May 17, 2023 It might make sense then to call up Mauricio, but that would mean de-Canha or de-Phamming the Mets. The problem is those guys are also the backup CFers
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Vientos for Guillorme is up on the Mets transaction page, which probably is as official as it gets from the public side of things. On the other hand, the page is listing Vientos as a shortstop, which he hasn't played since 2017.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Does he platoon with Baty, perhaps?

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 I was never of the impression that Reyes was an overall positive influence on Amed Rosario.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Jose Reyes is not a positive influence on society as a whole
vtmet7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 17, 2023 Posted May 17, 2023 Edgy MD wrote:I was never of the impression that Reyes was an overall positive influence on Amed Rosario.that might be true, but that was supposedly the Mets intention was to have Reyes mentor Rosario
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 I have a suspicion that Vientos might be sent back for some more seasoning, if only briefly.Narváez is close to ready, and though three catchers isn't a great fit for anybody, Vientos isn't a strong fit as it is, and he's not getting a ton of reps. It's not a palatable option, but neither is releasing Escobar or DFA'ing Nido. Álvarez can become the righthanded DH as well as sharing catching duties, and the roster will remain flexible enough that Vientos could return when the first available spot opens, no matter who opens it.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 I know it's complicated but Vientos is a DH ? Seems very unsure of himself in the field
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 27, 2023 Posted July 27, 2023 He probably mostly is, at least for now, but the future may hold any number of paths.Fielders should be assigned ERAs in addition to pitchers.
