Enjoy Memories of an Ice Cold Uceta Club

Every year, upstate New York's biggest running road race is the Utica Boilermaker 15k, held the second Sunday each July in what's normally scorching heat. Me and all of my fittest, sweatiest friends get up at the dickcrack of dawn and schlep out to Utica (about an hour east of Syracuse) and run a 9.3 mile course through town to the cheering delight of the population of the city.

It's an annual highlight for us on the running calendar and a very popular race (most years, between the 15k and 5k events, there are 15-17 thousand runners participating).

The race always ends at Saranac Brewery, where live music, a military flyover, and free beer are flowing. The beer courtesy of the good folks at Saranac. In years past the free beer would be one of their newer IPAs, or some other craftier offering. But the past couple of summers, they have "rewarded" us with free Utica Club.

It's almost like they want me to run 9 miles away from the brewery. This stuff tastes worse than an April sweep in Milwaukee.

Lights out at Uceta Club, as Edwin has been claimed off waivers by the Cubs. If anyone has memories of dear old Eddie besides this thread, share them here. Or anywhere.
