bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 The Mets are hiring and this could be a good fit for you!https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/job-posting-new-york-mets-director-performance-technology/https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/job-posting-new-york-mets-director-performance-technology/
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I wonder if they take applications from those with dubious credentials and a fondness for craft beer hmmm
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I'm a perfect fit if I took all those words and shook them up into other words
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 wonder if they'd take a master's degree in mechanical engineering, and a graduate certificate in ordinance engineering...? it's... applicable.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 My priority would be improving the skills of our scouts to identify future star players and getting them into the system, not squeezing the maximum capability out of average ones once they are here.Cue the Six Million Dollar Man theme music.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I would gather that the pursuit of excellence in performance technology would not hamper the pursuit of excellence in scouting, or vice versa.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I submitted that I have innate, hard to put on paper and oft-timescontroversial views on how to run things - with my amusing resume. Once they see how old I am I'm sure I'll get no response.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 That's funny; I got an instant reply and I'm even older than you. And no degree at all!

whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Yeah that whole job description seemed kinda much for one person to do a thoroughly good job
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I don't think the Mets' prospects are sow's ears, or why there is any reason to think of them as such, or why there is suddenly any reason to think that their scouts cannot tell silk from pig's flesh.I also don't think posting a job opening for one department suggests that that department has been prioritized over another department.I think this is a false conflict. At any given time, over at LinkedIn, the organization has at least half a dozen job openings. The notion that they may be looking for a head of business analytics doesn't mean that they aren't looking for a rehabilitation specialist, and if they're looking for an associate director of marketing, it doesn't mean they are diverting resources from lefthanded relief pitching.I don't know why it's necessary to make controversy where there isn't any.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Seems like too much work, AND I gotta hobnob with those wall street snobs from point72? pass.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I don't get it at all. Is a Mets fan somehow a better Mets fan if he finds a more obscure reason than other fans to hate on the team? Even if that reason makes no sense?
