The Mets go with David Peterson (LHP) against Drew Smyly (LHP) at 7:10, Citi Field. I'm hoping that Buck gets tossed during the pre-game chat as he tells the umpires what they did wrong yesterday but he won't allow himself to do so. Peterson pitched five innings against the Cubs on 7/17 with 0 ER. Smyly pitched 4 1/3 against the Mets on 7/16 with 1 ER.



Escobar has hit FOUR HRs off Smyly (not to be confused with ex-Pirate John Smiley) and McCann has two (but he's played the last two games so it should be a Nido night). Pete has one so there's a chance of a solo blast that won't affect the game (I'm very down on Pete but it's baseball and we're a good team and we're not down on ourselves and it's the nature of the game and we're confident and shut up and hit the damn ball).

On the out-of-town scoreboard, the Braves play the Giants at 3:45 ET and it's a good matchup as Morton faces Rodon.

So I'm hoping we can sneak one of the next five and start to put a solid lock on that 2nd WC spot.
