bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 The Mets go with David Peterson (LHP) against Drew Smyly (LHP) at 7:10, Citi Field. I'm hoping that Buck gets tossed during the pre-game chat as he tells the umpires what they did wrong yesterday but he won't allow himself to do so. Peterson pitched five innings against the Cubs on 7/17 with 0 ER. Smyly pitched 4 1/3 against the Mets on 7/16 with 1 ER.Escobar has hit FOUR HRs off Smyly (not to be confused with ex-Pirate John Smiley) and McCann has two (but he's played the last two games so it should be a Nido night). Pete has one so there's a chance of a solo blast that won't affect the game (I'm very down on Pete but it's baseball and we're a good team and we're not down on ourselves and it's the nature of the game and we're confident and shut up and hit the damn ball).https://www.mlb.com/gameday/cubs-vs-mets/2022/09/14/662422#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=662422https://www.mlb.com/gameday/cubs-vs-mets/2022/09/14/662422#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=662422On the out-of-town scoreboard, the Braves play the Giants at 3:45 ET and it's a good matchup as Morton faces Rodon.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 One more with the Cubs then four with Pitt - all at home but no deGrom, no Scherzer, and no hitting. So I'm hoping we can sneak one of the next five and start to put a solid lock on that 2nd WC spot.If we get outside help that is.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Braves at Giants just getting under way.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 (edited) Pete finally gets some protection in the lineup. (hoping we're all right about this as we want it to be)Later Edited September 14, 2022 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 I hope Mark Vientos does well, but him batting fifth is not something I've advocated for.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 And the protection is from a guy who's 0 for 6 in his big league career.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Author Posted September 14, 2022 (edited) JD Davis just drove in [CROSSOUT]Jonathan[/CROSSOUT] Villar with a double. It was Davis' 2d hit of the game. Ruf has 7 hits as a Met. Edited September 14, 2022 by Guest

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 Just hold them to single digits here in the 1st and we'll call it a moral victory. Those are the only kind we're getting these days anyway.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 We're on a solid pace to give up 162 runs this evening. The good news is, not having batted, we don't yet have an offensive projection.
