"Left oblique fatigue"

“It was actually pretty good news, all things considered, that there wasn't something torn or where he had [the injury] last time,” Mets manager Buck Showalter

said before the Mets doubleheader against the Pirates. “I think the idea is to get it resolved so that he can finish the season strong and be ready for whatever

the season holds for us.”

Mets placed RHP Max Scherzer on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 4, with left side irritation.

Scherzer was pulled after five innings in his last start Saturday against the Nationals due to what was labeled as "fatigue" in his left oblique, the same oblique that he strained back in late May. He then wound up missing around seven weeks, but the expectation is that the veteran ace will be ready to return when first eligible this time around. Still, it's another tough blow for the Mets after they just fell into a tie with the Braves for first place in the NL East standings. Scherzer had been scheduled to start Friday at Miami.

Let us know how Alvarez looks.

He is back off the IL and homered last night.

Later

Funny you should mention that. We were there last night and witnessed the HR. Better yet, we had great seats behind the plate and you can see us in the replay of the dinger that was aired on SNY.

Look for the two of us left of center (me in the backwards orange Mets hat) at the
00:11 second mark of this clip.

Lol I meant at the Syracuse level

We used to ‘pretend' we were going to house a few Williamsport players back when our daughter was a teen

She caught a few eyes (from the bullpen) when we went there for games. She did work in the Historic Bowman Field gift shop for a bit.
