Hope to see Bill and his brooms in the morning.

Kinda sucks having two days off this week.

Immediately after the end of the game the Yanx dealt 'a coupla prospects' to KCR for Andrew Benintendi.

During the GMSIII era it would be safe to assume that the deal was made because of the results of the prior two games but

it's more likely now that this was in the works for a while and has more to do with the Stanton injury (and injury history) than

just a knee-jerk reaction.

I was getting a feeling, most acutely after the two homers in the first inning of Game One, that the Mets may have a record that says they're a top team, but they lacked the big ugly aura that the Yankees had of just being stupid bullies. The Dodgers had it, to my thinking, and the Astros too, and there was something about the Yankees that said that they could just swat you away, and if you stole a game here and there, good for you, but it's just because they couldn't get motivated enough to bother.

But watching on, I could see how subtle dysfunctions were baked into the pudding. Guys were playing out of position. Guys who were ridiculously hot were really being unreasonably counted on to continue as such. If a ball stayed in the park that would have gotten out of Yankee Stadium, the problem was with the park, not the team.

They seemed kind of like the Lucas Duda-in-the-outfield-era Mets. A much better version of that team certainly — but a flawed and mis-shapen team nonetheless.

meh, but it's fun to tease them about how they realized they're not even the best team in NY and had to panic-buy a guy that's a danger to his teammates.

I found Bill!

Thank you.

I like it that nobody used the word, or referred to a "sweep" until after the game.

Ashie just used "brooms" in the thread title and I appreciated that.

As you may have figured out by now I'm very superstitious*, and consider using the word sweep before the series is over to be a jinx.

When the sports reporters on tv or radio say something like "The Mets are going for the sweep tonight" I cringe in anticipation of a loss.

Later

* = I don't like to make pre-season predictions, either
