Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 supposed Jauss has three pots of coffee brewing already.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Author Posted July 18, 2022 I just put on ESPN for a minute and they're discussing the over/under(sponsored by DraftKings) on how far the longest HR will travel. Sad.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Leave it to ESPN to run a two hour Baseball Tonight at 4:00 followed by another one hour version at 7:00 all on a night when there are no baseball games being played.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Followed by the premiere of a SEVEN PART Jeter bio.Ken Burns' The Civil War was nine parts.Gimmie a break.Anyhow, this would be fun if it were held at the old LA Wrigley Field, home of the original Home Run derby.Later
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 This wouldn't be fun if it were held at the original Garden of Eden with the original cast.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Is there a more masturbatory professional sporting event than the home run derby? I think not.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 They don't let Berman still do the “back, back, back” thing, do they?I followed last year's derby on my phone before tuning in for Pete in the last round. It's in an effort to watch as little of ESPN as possible. I would not watch at all if not for Pete. But I'm rooting for him. He looks like he's having fun.

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Did you guys know there is an ESPN Jeter doc? :0My wife wants me to count the number of references to The Captain, with an over/under of 75.How is Pete a second seed?

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Pete advances!!Telling Buster he's giving any winnings to his foundation. Good for Pete
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Interrupting this fake baseball thread with some news about actual baseball, I just looked at the schedule and discovered that, starting tonight, we have five games over the next eleven days.Exactly how do they expect me to survive on such meager rations?

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Nice moments with Albert.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Slight echo of the players surrounding Ted Williams at the Fenway ASG. Very sweet to see
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Schwarber seems to be saving all his home runs for us, as the first seed goes out.

Allegedly, if tomorrow's game ends in a tie, it will be settled by a home run derby?

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Pete seems to be struggling in this round.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Pete goes out. Good job.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 I lost what was probably an illegal feed after "The Star-Spangled Banner," and that was kind of fine because that performance sapped me of all my power.

Allegedly, if tomorrow's game ends in a tie, it will be settled by a home run derby? If we didn't all of us suspect, this is actually an experiment disguised as a show, I'd almost be okay with it vs other lame solutions, maybe? But nobody trusts baseball.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 Here's hoping that this is a monkey off of Alonso's back.
