Or is it what did Keith say? I wasn't paying attention so missed it.

Mark Vientos was not in the lineup for Syracuse today.

Just sayin'.

Well, its not like they are going to suddenly bench Escobar unless or until they determine whether whatever is ailing him makes him unable to be Escobar. They could be deciding that now, for all we know, just wary of the idea a first-time MLBer ought to be looked at as though he'd necessarily be an instant upgrade on a dude with the track record and expectations and contract and overall value (good to very good D) that Escobar theoretically provides.

Plus, I'd argue the Mets current issues go beyond that, as noted with the WERRYSOME conditions around Lindor, McNeil and Zimmo.

They're on the KNIFES EDGE I TELL YOU 🔪 🗡 🍴 🍽 🔪

Coming about 2:09:50 in the MLB.tv webcast:

GARY: Sixty-six RBIs now for Alonso. That leads the majors. (pause) Sixty-six RBIs and we're not ...

we've still got a week left in June. (pause) Most RBIs any Met has ever had before the All-Star Break

is seventy-four. That was David Wright, and it looks like Pete's got a chance to obliterate that mark.

KEITH: I remember — I forget the year — when Rusty was in Detroit. Rusty Staub — he had over

seventy RBIs at the All-Star break, and didn't go to the All-Star Game.

GARY: Hey! Hank Greenberg once had a hundred RBIs before the All-Star break and didn't go to the

   All-Star Game.

  KEITH: That's inexplicable.

GARY: Well, unfortunately, it is explicable.
