The late night SoCal road show moves on to San Diego, Carrasco vs. Snell. First pitch on SNY is 9:40 PM. First “I'll just close my eyes for a couple of pitches…zzz…” is a matter of personal inclination.

I think the San Diego games are starting a half hour earlier, at 9:40 PM EDT - so maybe an extra inning or two before the closing of the eyes…

Thanks Padres for the extra half-hour of hopefully ending Snell.

This one is a MLBN "Showcase Game", outside of the NY area, with Stephen Nelson, Yonder Alonso, Cliff Floyd, CC Sabathia. I'm not familiar with Stephen Nelson but he is also the PBP person for Friday's game against the LAA exclusively on Apple+ (Stephen Nelson, Katie Nolan, Hunter Pence, & Heidi Watney).

J.D. Davis, breaking the first base seal on his season.

Three guys banged up in that lineup. I was surprised to see Nimmux finish the game yesterday and am at least as surprised to see him back in the lineup this evening.

Alfaro is one fast catcher. Scores from second for the first Padrun, but getting Profar was a worthy consolation prize for the Mets.

Faster than literally everyone on the Mets right now.

89 pitches for Snell just to get thru 4 innings.

Basically about 50% more than you'd like to throw at that point of the game.

Going by feet/second in 2022, and taking "right now" quite literally literally, https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/sprint_speed?min_season=2022&max_season=2022&position=&team=NYM&min=10you're quite right.

1) Jankowski: 28.9

Alfaro: 28.7

2) Nimmo: 28.6

3) Marte: 28.4

4) Lindor: 27.6

5) Escobar: 27.5

6) Canha: 27.3

7) Davis, J.D: 26.7

8) McNeil: 26.6

9) Smith: 26.4

10) Guillorme: 26.1

11) McCann: 25.8

12) Nido: 25.3

13) Alonso: 25.2

14) Mazeika: 23.8

I guess, in theory, Nick Plummer can keep up with him, as we don't have sufficient data on Nick, but that's damned impressive.

That wasn't just a bad throw by Machado, it was a lazy throw from the guy who once stated that hustling "just isn't my thing".

Fun Fake Fact: Steven Wilson was the least known of the Beach Boys but credited for backing vocals on "Be True to Your School" and percussion on The Beach Boys Love You LP. Was kicked out of the group when John Stamos joined
