kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Author Posted May 5, 2022 Casually late, find a three run lead and still going in the first.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Three Philadelphia runs home in the first and I object to losing to a team wearing their 1970s road pajamas at home.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 This is bullshit. Not even 7 pm and were getting our asses kicked
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Oh, come on. Even if you don't put them at the top, to say that Aerosmith and the Eagles aren't even top THIRTY means you're not even on the same planet.I'm positive that I can, in good faith, come up with a credible list of 30 classic rock bands that I would easily prefer to listen to ahead of Aerosmith and The Eagles. Not in any particular order:The BeatlesThe Rolling StonesLed ZeppelinThe WhoPink FloydThe Allman BrothersTrafficCreamBlind FaithDerek & The DominoesJeff Beck Group with Rod StewartThe YardbirdsJethro TullCreedence Clearwater RevivalThe DoorsBig Brother & The Holding Co. with Janis JoplinSimon & GarfunkelThe Jimi Hendrix ExperienceBob DylanThe KinksThe BandJefferson AirplaneBuffalo SpringfieldThe ByrdsCrosby, Stills and Nash (and Young, too)Neil YoungSly & the Family StoneThe MonkeesBlood, Sweat & TearsDonovanI made this list in less than four minutes. And I barely had to crack 1968. And I left out the whole Motown stable, which I love and got regular airplay on the classic rock radio stations I grew up listening to, and were all mostly active in 1968.I take it back. Those two bands wouldn't make my top 75!You missed the qualifier there. Nearly all of those bands are made up of folks who are not from the USA. I do put the Allmans, the Doors and CCR in that same rare air, among American bands. And ironically, despite the fact that the Band is often credited with inventing the "Americana" sound, only Levon Helm of that group was not Canadian. And, yes, naturally, fuck the Eagles with a giant iron stick.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 From your list, here are the entries where all of the members were born in the States (to my knowledge):The Allman BrothersCreedence Clearwater RevivalThe DoorsBig Brother & The Holding Co. with Janis JoplinSimon & GarfunkelBob DylanJefferson AirplaneSly & the Family StoneBlood, Sweat & TearsSo, from this batch, yeah, I put peak 1970s Aerosmith up against all of them, sure. Like KC, I can still listen to selections from the 2 radio friendly albums in the 80's, there are some good riffs in those records.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Author Posted May 5, 2022 Stranding runners, hoping it doesn't get habit forming.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 I'd put Tom Petty + the Heartbreakers and the Byrds ahead if Aerosmith, just off the top of my head
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Unlike the quickie DH from the other day, this game isn't ending anytime soon.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Three soft bouncers to Lindor, two in potential GiDP situations, result in one total out.Part bad execution, part bad luck.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Two outs and nobody home yet, but this has been a good inning against Nola.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 I'd also prefer the doors, ccr and allmans to aerosmith.Cheap Trick too.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Kiss? Probably not but closer than you think
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Ron: Replays have been averaging 1:40 this yearMe: Bullshit
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Chicago. They're a better klassik rawk outfit than aerosmith.. the Beach Boys.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Are we going to hear that Taijuan needs an MRI tomorrow?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Author Posted May 5, 2022 7-sniffle through four. They can't even see the saddle.

Probably not but closer than you thinkI really like it when Gene Simmons sticks his big fake tongue out. Cool. What are you, eight years old?Gimme a coupla more minutes and I'll easily make my list all-American. And they're all bands. What? A band isnt a band because its named after the main artist? What solo acts? Nobody's playing all of their instruments except maybe Stevie Wonder.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 I gave 8 or 9 legit American contemporaries I'd consider ahead of aero in a best-American Band list
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Reading this thread has been far m0re enjoyable than watching the beat down the Phillies are putting on the Mets tonight.

Flashbacks to the Schmidt-Luzinski juggernaut murdering pitchers like Pat Zachry and Mike Bruhert.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 I'd put Steely Dan on the American Bands Better than Aerosmith list, if you consider Walter Becker, Donald Fagin, and various sidemen a band.I remember The Old Mole had a long Facebook discussion on best American bands. REM got a lot of love, though not exactly classic rawk.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Yeah I'm not even considering bands born in the 80s

Lenny Kravitz's band isnt a band because its named after Lenny Kravitz but Fleetwood Mac is a band because its named after more than one of its members? What the hell does the band name have to do with anything? Edited May 5, 2022 by Guest
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Posted May 5, 2022 Getting a bit into semantics here but I wouldn't call Dylan a band because his stuff was with so many different musicians over the years. Springsteen, OTOH, even though technically billed as a solo act, has made the vast majority of his output with a remarkably stable backing unit for over half a century.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted May 5, 2022 Author Posted May 5, 2022 7-1, Nola over 100 pitches. Time to stretch...
