batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Jake Holmes was an opening act for the Jimmy Page era Yardbirds. One night, Holmes plays his "Dazed and Confused" before a Yardbirds concert. Page is instantly fascinated by Holmes's song, and that descending bass line. Later that night, Page goes to some Greenwich Village record store, where he buys Holmes's album. The Yarbirds then cover the song, steal it, really, as Holmes isn't credited. The song carries over to Page's next band, where it becomes a staple of Led Zeppelin's live set.and one of its biggest hits.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 I prefer the Aerosmith version of Train Kept a Rollin personally. For old covers, though, have a bit of this. I'm thinking of adding this to my own set list.OE: Realized after the fact that I conflated the Yardbirds and the Animals there. Don't care, though, you should listen to that anyway because it's great.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 No indictment of Todd, but I like three-man booths.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Fuckin McNeil. I'd basically given up on him being this good again
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Just as I'm thinking, "All these crossups make Knizner look like he's never caught before," Todd Zeile says, "All these crossups make Knizner look like he's never caught before."

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 All McNeil needed was to hit at the bottom of the order.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 "Edman" sounds like a real D-lister of a superhero.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 McCann may be off the interstate by the end of this series.Todd says his McCannics look stronger, too. I agree.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Is it me, or does Bassitt look really red in the face tonight?
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Packy Naughton, alum of my son's school, takes the mound. Not sure why he's named after a liquor store.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Gary made the same reference when he started warming up, possibly in observance of Naughton's Boston roots.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Bassitt is throwing some really slow curves all of a sudden.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 And Cahna is flashing some really smoove defense.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 26, 2022 Posted April 26, 2022 Terrific job by Bassit, but he sure seemed to be working on fumes that inning.
