Just last night I was thinking Castro might really step up this season. I didn't mean up onto the 7 platform to switch to the 4 at Grand Central. I liked how he seemed to rescue his season in the second half last year and not be a total disaster, which is sometimes the nicest thing one can say about a wayward Met reliever.



Five Mets pitched in more than 60 games in 2021. Three — Loup, Familia, Castro — are now gone. Way to drain 'em and discard 'em.

I always thought the braids, beads, and beard made him look like an extra in a Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Seemed to be come less effective after the sticky stuff got banned.



He coughed up the lead in the extra-inning game I saw in Miami dominated by ReplaceMets.

Felt more dominant than he actually was. But was a very solid, reliable arm for a season and a half here, and that's a lot more than a lot of guys can say.

I get the need for LHP help out there but I think the MFYs are getting the better end of this deal.
