I believe I shall remain fond of the lefty's most efficient outing, from July 31: coming in to face Tyler Stephenson of the Reds, with Joey Votto on first and Kyle Farmer on third and the Mets down by one with two out in the eighth, Loup worked the count on Stephenson to 2-2 before picking Votto off first and instigating a 1-3-5-2 erasure of Farmer at the plate. Inning over.

Loup, who didn't come back out for the ninth, was credited for a third-of-an-inning pitched in the eventual 5-4 Mets win.

Aaron's 6-0 record marked the fourth season of a Met pitcher winning at least that many games with no losses, joining Pat Mahomes (8-0 in 1999), Tom Gorman (6-0 in 1984) and Jerry Blevins (6-0 in 2017) in the ranks of the ostentatiously undefeated. Loup was the one to start a game or two.

Liked beer (Busch Light). Didn't care for giving up earned runs (0.95).

Mahomey and Gorgon's record make some degree of sense. As well as they pitched, they were bullpen backenders, mostly brought in with the team behind. Or, if they pitched in a game the Mets were winning, they were generally winning by highly secure margin.

Blevy and Loup, though, would appear in tied games and games with narrow leads, with tying and go-ahead runs on base or at the plate. Unblemished records in such a sitch is truly impressive.

Laconic Southern guy who you could tell by looking at him was into hunting and fishing and took that same mindset to the mound with him.

Specific memories? I have almost none. He was just there.
