Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 (edited) It's the second try at a deGrom day vs a 1st place team ... only now it comes with 22% less action!!2:10 first pitch ... assuming no continuation of the recent deluge. Edited July 7, 2021 by Guest
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Today would be a great day for a complete game shutout.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Mike Vaccaro coming in hot (and accurately) that 7 inning split doubleheaders must be immediately stopped:https://nypost.com/2021/07/07/rob-manfreds-split-doubleheaders-are-stealing-from-baseball-fans/amp/?__twitter_impression=truehttps://nypost.com/2021/07/07/rob-manfreds-split-doubleheaders-are-stealing-from-baseball-fans/amp/?__twitter_impression=true
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 I do understand that logic.Between deGrom and Burnes, we could have a combined *double* no-hitter today.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 It's pretty bold of the Brewskis to take advantage of the reschedule and switch up their strategy of using a sacrificial lamb against deGrom and instead burn Burnes in Game One against deGrom. They're putting their chips in sweeping the afternoon, but risking getting swept in the series in doing so.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 I checked his splits, though, and Burnes, like deGrom, is better during the day. So maybe that plays into it also. And hey, if you want to be the best, you gotta beat the best. So credit Ned Yost or Craig Counsell or Harvey Kuenn or whoever the Brewers' skipper is these days.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Interesting. My strategy was always, if you want to be the best, dodge the best, and hope that external circumstance prevent the best from catching up to you before you claim your title.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Why am I hearing the PC Richards whistle at Citi Field? That's Yankees shit!
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 On the other hand, I unironically appreciate the Brewers' recreational softball uniforms.

He should be going up against the opposing aces, whenever possible.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Both aces surrender extra-base hits to leadoff hitters.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 (edited) 2d and 3d, 1 out and no runs. McNeil needs to get his head out of his ass quick or JD can play 3B and Villar can move to 2B while McNeil goes and does what he really loves--play golf. Edit: That was mean, I'm sure he loves baseball but hit a frigging fly ball. Edited July 7, 2021 by Guest
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Another missed opportunity. Burnes earns a merit badge.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Two runs on two hits.Maybe Incredible Pitching deGrom needs to reintroduce his curve. The close-your-eyes-and-swing-hard strategy is yielding modest dividends.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 deGrom's ERA now close to Gibson's '68 mark of 1.12 -- 1.10.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Good thing we have 4 more innings to get back 2 runs.Wait, what's that you say? We're playing under idiotic arbitrary rules again?
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Could use a Polar Bomb right here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Running for Pete is fine, but they should have used Vlllar.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 Tying run on third. Go-ahead run on first.A chance for Conforto, captain of Flushing, to show his quality.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 7, 2021 Posted July 7, 2021 He squeezed not.Villar and Pillar available for the ninth.
