The second half of the schedule starts with tonight's tilt even if statistically the "second half" stats will only be those posted a week from Friday after the ASB

And what a better way to kick off the back nine than with Jacob of Grom on the hill, just as we did when teeing off on #1

I'd call Milwaukee lefty Brett Anderson tonight's sacrificial lamb except that we tend to lose JdG starts with alarming frequency and sense-defying logic.

Anderson, a 33 y/o in his 13th ML season, is just off the IL having previously made 12 starts in 2021 with a none-too-impressive 4.69 ERA and 1.458 WHiP

NYM bats have made a habit of making mediocre pitchers look great over the last month (or three) but in the last few games they have gotten to the likes of

Cole, Chapman, and Woodruff so maybe things are looking up.

Well, the Mets have won 10 of Jacob's 14 starts this year, and 8 of 12 last year, so the trend of losing his starts hasn't been as much of a thing recently.

In both of deGrom's Cy Young seasons (2018 and 2019) the Mets were 14-18 in his starts.

Yeah. I don't know if this makes me a good parent or a bad one or a good or bad fan but we made a game time decision to turn back given the biblical storm that just ripped though Queens. Now I'm half-hoping for a rainout as I owe the Pail a game and don't want to miss a deGrom start.

There will be other deGrom games.

The window to play is not until 10pm. Doesn't look good.

Steve C. tweeted it was postponed as the Citi Field PA/Scoreboard announced the Mets were “hopeful” that they would play tonight.

I had like two hours of kitchen chores to do last night, so this was a real crimp in my evening to not also have a deGrom/Mets game to watch.

Having said that, it did make it a bit easier for us to focus on recording episode 15 of the (euphemistically) much beloved https://www.barleyprose.com/baseball/mets-on-tap-episode-15/Mets on Tap podcast, brought to you by the word smythes of Barley Prose (myself, Ceetar and Seawolf this week).

It makes you a bad poster if we don't get a transit report.
