Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Little League rules apply in both games today.'twould be real nice to steal a win off of Cole and then play with house money in the nightcap battle of the TBDs.He's obviously the best they've got although has been less than great lately. Coming off a drubbing from the BoSox, Cole's ERA was way up (4.65) in June, his K's are down, BBs are up, and HRs allowed way up (8 in 31 June IPs). Perhaps the result of a Sticky Stuff ban?!?!?And, if nothing else, Saturday's game took reliever Michael King out of the running for both games on Sunday which, seeing as how no one in the lineup could touch him, moves everyone else in their pen up one notch. I want to see them have touse Chapman for mop-up duty in a blowout loss.

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 A sweep leaves the Yankees with a sub-.500 record? I'd celebrate that with fireworks!
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Cole is nothing without Spider Tack

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 First pitch to Smith, I'm thinking, "He's just seeing the ball better."Second pitch to Smith, I'm thinking, "That ball's gonna get out of here."
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Somebody needs to tell Alonso about that right field porch.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Good time for the Yankees to ground into a triple play.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 They did, but the middle infield failed to get the DP twice.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Lindor taketh away from his own pitcher.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Three-run rally from the bottom of the order for the Yankees.Stro unable to find a strike-three pitch.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Giving unearned runs to a team with a negative run differential is bad. But the Yankees defense looks like they are trying to zero it out by allowing some unearned runs for the Mets.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Except the umps are still pro-Yankee.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 The spikes don't count?I can see the argument that Voit's spike was kissing the base before Nimmo's sole came down, but if the spikes don't count (and I didn't know that), he's got to be safe.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Cole is touching every part of his face hair and brim between pitches.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 This would be a good time for Pete to get a cheap Yankee Stadium HR. Or even to crush a legitimate HR.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 McKinney is seeing way too much action in left for an afternoon featuring a ground-ball pitcher.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Is McKinney playing too deep? Two hits fell in front of him.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Finally a DP, but a productive one for the Yankees.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 McNeil seems to suddenly be seeing the ball a little better too.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Great job hanging in there for the walk by McKinney.Blast it, Tomás.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Let's take the lead and knock Cole out of the game.
