Oh oh. The dreaded "they've never faced this pitcher before" specter looms.

Yeah, I never work from that dread. I think if you spent some time digitally hobnobbing with fans of virtually any team, you'd find a whole lot of folks sincerely telling you how their team is particularly susceptible to unfamiliar pitchers.

Being a fan of lamb, I'm quite intrigued by concentrated lamb stock.

Stock might be the one guy in the league who can give JdG a run for his money in the nightly mph comparison* they do every night. He can drop triple digits on ya.

* I just realized that I have no idea who the sponsor of that gig is (used to be Cholula but that was like four years ago) which means it's probably not money well spent

It's Spectrum, isn't it?

Cholula's money must've been well spent, if you're still remembering it. I think they did better because (a) they had flames on the graphic, and (B) their ads were regularly rotating behind the batter and flanking the scoreboard.

Cholula is the Piels Light, or maybe Meisterbrau of hot sauces.

Keystone? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

I had a 24-oz Miller High Life can at the game last night. Went down like water

Then, I tried some funky LIC Brewing IPA that was actually pretty not tasty. Didn't finish it

I like IPA, but have a ABV limit <6%. Upwards is too hoppy for me.

I hope Ceetar agrees or else he'll be throwing a sneaker at me...

ABV has nothing to do with hoppiness and it's more likely to be the opposite anyway.

but JCL is dead to me now. Higher Burnin' is pretty good, and when the alternative is Miller High Life..bleh. But I get you, there's almost only NE IPA at Citi Field if you want craft, so it makes it tough if you're not a huge fan of that very fruit-forward almost syrupy smooth pillow mouthfeel style of IPA.

I'm seeing rumors of a Mermaid Pilsner or a Beach Beer by Coney Island (Bushwick PIls?) so that might be where you want to go.

I have this fear about tonight's game. DeGrom, competitor that he is, wills himself onto the mound despite injury. It goes poorly and he comes out of the game early with a more serious injury than they were originally talking about.

I hate thinking this way, but I can't shake the foreboding. Every fiber of my being hopes I am wrong.

I share these fears.

I guess it's the alcohol then. I had an 8% or so a couple of weekends ago.

Truth Serum I believe it was called from a brewery not far from me. Too much.

Yes, Soul! I didn't have it locally and didn't realize where they were located until

reading a can a few days later. I wish I knew because I lived in Pleasantville for over

25 years and would have been more chatty with the vendor (it was at a craft fair)...

I generally like the NEIPAs, that one was was way too "pillowy" as you described. I also suspected it might been skunked a little, just wasn't for me.

Amazingly, the Mets seem to be congealing around a specific lineup of sorts.

Also, Guillorme seems to have bumped back ahead of Peraza — seemingly getting all the righthanders and leaving José to the lefties.

I'd still like to see him getting a stronger walkup song than "Brother Louie." It's not the worst, but it sort of has a dampening effect on my rooting energy.

(This place is starting to read like a drinking forum with a baseball problem!)
