I went to High School with a Stevie Wilkerson ... but this Oriole is probably not the same guy.

The one I knew was a basketball player, and he was black, and he'd be in his early 60s, and, if his HS antics were any kind of omen, likely in prison.

It's not so much that Lindor is swinging the bat better, althought that's more or less true. It's that he's not chasing curves in the dirt.
