That Leyba AB might be one of the stupidest things we'll see for weeks.

I wonder if the step on 1st then try for the tag play at 2nd would have been a better option there?

Kingman tended to play it that way.

For one, he was so big that it was easier for him than most to throw the ball past the runner. For two, he played close to the bag, so a good percentage of what he fielded had him in the vicinity.

I'm about to jinx things, especially since the 7th inning is when the brakes tend to get slammed on these things, but this is six full innings in just over 90 minutes.

Jacob's lost bat was helicoptering right towards some guy in a white shirt who appeared to have no clue that there was a baseball game in his general vicinity.

On the second and third pitches, I'm thinking, "He's got to give him that same pitch but maybe an inch further inside."

Anybody else, I'd think, "But that's probably too much of a risk of hitting the guy."

That's it for Jake. I guess he's pitching too well to stay in the game.

Is there anything to the idea that they had such a short season last year that there is some concern to not let outings go longer than necessary in the early part of this season?

Would another 15 pitches have hurt Jake after only throwing 70? But 6 up/downs were his limit, I guess.

It's funny how many Mets fans are there.

Brakes applied.

Approx 95 minutes for first 6 innings. More than 60 minutes (and counting) for innings 7 + 8
