Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 I was done, man. I hadn't quite walked away from baseball, but I had walked out of it. And yeah, I kind of thought I was done. But I was feeling good and the Mets needed some lefty options and here I am.Yeah, I don't throw a lot of strikes, but I get my swings and misses, and when you're the guy who has to keep a guy from scoring from second, giving the batter a free trip to first isn't the biggest of sins. Yeah, it's still a sin, and not getting the job done, but I've gotten it done more than a few times. Slider-chase. Slider-chase. Maybe a curve at the ankles or a less-than-fast fastball at the eyes. That's my name. And curly-haired mullet action is my new game. Will that game be a winning one? Let me know, please.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Interesting musical cue. And by "interesting," I mean, "it's interesting in how completely inappropriate it is, in pretty much every respect."AAA to start, then a shot in late May, finalmente. 4.22 ERA or so, 35 IP or so. Productive, mostly, and blown the fuck out once or twice to pump that ERA up a bit.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 3rd time not a charm. I was nervous the second time, and now there's a stupid rule that limits the proper deployment of a Blevins.I think they'll quietly offer him a gig in Syracuse, hell quietly decline in favor of a part-time gig on SNY. So we haven't seen the last of him
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 I don't see him pitching a single game for the Mets in 2021.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 I bet he gets two weeks here, walks off in his last outing to as warm an ovation as a half-full stadium can provide, then hangs 'em up.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 He is on such a short leash that one bad outing this spring might be enough to release him.As Lunchie mentioned, that part time gig on SNY looks more and more like the path he'll follow this year.Later
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 I wasn't aware (or forgot) that he has a broadcasting career in his future. Sounds more likely than anything on-the-mound Metly for 2021.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 He'll retire at the end of spring and spend the year on SNY.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 I predict he'll be tall and lean and lefty. How, or even if, he'll pitch, I have no freaking clue.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Another example of you have to scrape the uniform off these guys.
