The Mets roster indicates two of their pitchers shedding abnormally high uniform numbers for some more traditional denominators.

Robert Gsellman switches from 65 to 44, which is just putting a chip on your shoulder, as it is the bully's number. You have to have the punch to back up your talk if you wear 44. I'm also kind of disappointed to see Gselly drop 65 because I always thought of the digits as an illustration of the unusual digraph at the start of his name, as in 65ELLMAN.

Lefty David Peterson is shedding the iniquity of his 77 assignment to don the more frequently assigned (but mostly star-crossed) 23. This frees up 77 (unintentionally, most likely, but who knows?) for Syracuse pitching coach D.J. Carrasco, who went with double-sevens not-unintentionally through the bulk of his career, including with the Mets, and may want to wear them during spring training, or perhaps if he gets a callup should the Mets suddenly find themselves in need of a fifth pitching coach.

I like that I see Peterson's switch from 77 to 23 as him clearing the larger number for use by a minor league coach who wore that number as a pretty bad Mets player, and MbtN sees it as imposing upon a a major league coach who wore the lower number as a more-or-less adequate player.

Blew my lede.

In a desperate attempt to distract from the Callaway Situation (Now opening for My Morning Jacket, The Callaway Situation!), the Angels have claimed Robel Garcia off of waivers.

The looming fight between Garcia and Mister Met for 00 has been abated.

Another war seemingly loomed over whether the rules would allow a team to carry a player identified with a 0 and another with a 00 on the same active roster, seeing as they are visually distinct, but share the same value.

When Benito Santiago wore 09, was there another player on the roster wearing just plain 9?
