Please consider naming your children after Deron Johnson

It seems to be a thing!



There is a newly posted memory on the UMDB by someone who says he was named after Deron Johnson. I wondered if that was the first Deron Johnson memory, so I checked, and among those already posted, there are two others who claim to have been named after Deron Johnson!

We have Deron Anderson (January 15, 2006), Deron Ribant (April 24, 2009) and Deron Rennick (November 6, 2020)



What's going on? If I had known about this sooner, both of my kids would have been named "Deron".

That last baseball card is somewhere up in my parents' attic with Rick Baldwin's.

This is strange, but when I was young and in my earliest days of baseball fandom, I liked Deron Johnson. He was one of my favorite non-Mets players. I don't remember why, though I still, to this day, remember him hitting a home run against the Mets. I also liked that 1971 Topps card a lot.
