So I hear there's a ballgame tonight. A division game even. Those are important ... or so I'm told.

Phils are coming off losing five times in their ridonculous and just-concluded Seven Game series against Miami

If was enough to see the Marlins pass the Phils and take 2nd place in the NLE

Phils sit 2.5 ahead of us and 1.5 behind the Fish

Rick Porcello vs Jake Arrieta

We didn't hit Arrieta last time. Everyone hit Porcello last time (and the time before that, and the ti ...)

It's a pitching match-up of over-the-hill Cy Young award winners!

Tomorrow's the marquee match-up --- deGrom v. Nola! Reserve your tickets now, before they're all gone!

And a Phillie transaction from today: Philadelphia Phillies placed 1B Rhys Hoskins on the 10-day injured list. Left elbow strain.

Bryce? Jean? Didi? That's a lot of females in the Phillies lineup today.

Finally living up to their nickname!

McCutchen dh-ing means he won't be able to help out by getting caught watching flies to deep left, expecting them to go foul.

One female is missing...he ran out of pink bandaids

Turned on the TV and Pete ends an inning with men on base. I don't track

these things but feels like it's at least once per game. Likely more.

And it's 2-zip.

The part missing from Porcello's game seems to be a pitch he can get guys to chase. He's got to throw strikes, because breaking stuff outside the zone is just an exercise in getting behind the count.

That was some Corsican Brothers shit there. Arrieta hits Gimenez in the thigh and then grabs his thigh in the exact same spot.

Gary: "And the Mets continue to waste opportunities"

It's come to the point where I don't even consider runners on base to be opportunities anymore. It's more like we're in a hole in those kind of situations.

What a big sack of human excrement Ramos has been. And you know that he'll lose 20 pounds this off-season, sign a one-year deal, say that he was distracted with the new baby and Covid, and have a great year for someone else. For now, they might as well waive his fat ass.

So the Philly pen has given up nearly one run per inning over the course of this season so far ... so let's see how many we can notch off them tonight over 3-2/3 inning.

I'm guessing the answer will be negative one, that we'll be so bad over these closing innings that the one run we already had will somehow wind up being erased and

the Phils staff winds up with a combined shutout.

And, once again, the leadoff hit proves to be a deterrent to scoring.

The key to beating the Mets is giving up a leadoff double.

And now the 8th inning is doomed as another leadoff batter reaches.

The only question now is whether it will require three batters to end the inning or whether we can GiDP again.
