Played in front of a screaming crowd of empty seats.

Why did they even bother?

It's weird that the 2021 schedule is released before the 2020 season has even started, but of course the weird part of it is that the 2020 season hasn't started yet.

I think that they are trying to get the existing season ticket folders to renew now. Otherwise, they might as well have waited.

Does anyone see anything "weird" in the schedule? I don't see anything big: 2 days off in one week of June but that is during a long road trip, a southern trip (Tampa, Atlanta, Miami) but that minimizes travel, 7 straight games against PIT, I don't like the Sunday in NY v LA and then Monday in SF, especially because the Sunday game could be moved to the evening but that's par for the course, the Mets play the Dodgers and then the Giants back-to-back in NY and then in California, 2 days off in another week of September, but nothing to the extent expressed by a ATL fan elsewhere:

[bLOCKQUOTE]I have never in my life seen a schedule, for any team, like the 2021 Braves schedule. Well the good news is our last divisional road game is August 18 in Miami. No divisional road games in September. Yes you read that correctly. The bad news is we do not play a single road game against the NL West until AUGUST 30. Literally the final 17 road games of the season are against the NL West. Including a 10 game road trip to San Francisco, Arizona, and San Diego starting SEPTEMBER 17. Yes you read that correctly. File that one under MLB Scheduling Quirks. I know we got the All-Star game but I will never understand this one. What year is this, 1993? What did we do to anger the scheduling gods?

Oh and then we get two straight off-days in late August, in the middle of a homestand, does any other team have this?[/bLOCKQUOTE]

And here's one from Seattle:

[bLOCKQUOTE]Another quirk in the schedule. The Mariners are scheduled to open up at home with a 3 game series against the Giants from Thursday through Saturday and have Sunday off before the White Sox come in for a 3 game series. Not often you see a team have an off day on a Sunday.[/bLOCKQUOTE]

President Joe Biden throwing out the first pitch. Steve Cohen watching as owner. Jacob deGrom on the mound. What a day this will be.

First Mets Opening Night since 2016 in KC, also for ESPN purposes. First NL Opening Night for the Mets since 2011, when new skipper Terry Collins led his minions into Your Name Here Stadium somewhere near Miami.

They've put up the starting times for all the games (some still subject to network flexing of course).

The good news for us east-coasters is that several of the mid-west teams, as well as the Rox & DBacks, are opting for 6:30 local time starts this year.

This keeps the post-8:00 starts down to a minimum ... something always appreciated by us old folks. Basically there will be two rough weeks (early June, mid-August)

plus a handful of other scattered games here and there for a total of 15 Post-8:00 PM (EDT) starts including five of the dreaded post-10 PM first pitches

All post-8:00 starts:

(2) Fri-Sat April 16-17: 8:40, 8:10 in Colorado

(6) Mon-Tues May 31-June 1, 9:40 in Arizona; Thu June 3-Sat June 6, 10:10 in Sandy Eggo

(5) Mon & Tues August 16-17 9:45 in SF; Thu-Fri August 19-20 10:10 in LA, also Sat Aug 21 9:10

(1) Sunday night Sept 12 in CF vs MFY 8:08 - this is ESPN and moved to 8PM for football reasons I'm assuming

(1) Fri Sept 24 8:10 in Milwaukee

Per Tim Britton:

[bLOCKQUOTE]The Mets' home series finale against the Dodgers on Aug. 15 has been flexed to Sunday Night Baseball. That means the Mets will play a 7 p.m. game in New York on Sunday night and a 9:45 p.m. game Monday night in San Francisco. [/bLOCKQUOTE]

Blergh. The Mets are now on Sunday Night Baseball the following two Sundays (9/12 and 9/19) so if you want to bring your kiddies to Citi Field, it's now a night game on a school night.

Add in the 9/18 game moving to FOX and we now have lost 3 GKR games in the next two weeks.

just checked out the upcoming schedule - the fucking yankees? aren't those games supposed to be in May? The Astros belong in the National League and interleague play should be restricted to May/June like it used to be. i was hoping to see Atlanta on the schedule but they don't show up until the final series. meanwhile, tomorrow is the last game with Washington - good thing THEY aren't in the race. bad scheduling of division opponents. should be two series against each in September.

The key thing is that the season ends against the Expos, which could make it one of the half dozen or so times the Mets fate is decided in the last series, or one of the fewer times the fate of the Mets and the team they go up against is decided in the last series.

Don't pitch to Vidro.

I need to go in for a mental workup.

Radio booth was talking about the Expos at the time and suddenly one red-and-blue team crossed with another and my brain broke.

Braves. The Mets finish against the Braves.

But Vidro don't scare me none.

But wait, it gets better (worse).

The FOX Saturday game is a 7:40 start rather than 7:10.

And while I'm sure that is going to be attributed to pre-game ceremonies, FOX's college football sked is the more likely culprit. Texas A&M vs Colorado scheduled to end at 7:00 (it won't) ... now who in this nation doesn't Need to see that?

And pro football shoves ESPN's SNB to the 8PM EDT slot, meaning 8:08 first pitch (assuming things run on time) but at least these are Yanqui games so we know they'll be played quicker than most.

Mmmmmm, later starts AND extra commercial time mixed in. I'm guessing 10:40, 11:15, and just prior to midnight for the final out in each ... unless there's extra innings involved.
