Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 From this year's Hall of Fame Ballot, guess the order in which these ex-Mets will finish in the BBWAA voting.Bobby Abreu, 2014 MetsHeath Bell, 2004–2006 MetsJeff Kent, 1992–1996 MetsJ.J. Putz, 2009 MetsGary Sheffield, 2009 MetsJosé Valverde, 2014 MetsBilly Wagner, 2006–2009 MetsAlso, to make it a little more nuanced, guess which ex-Met players, if any, will be inducted, and guess each player's percentages of the total vote.Winner gets a baseball book picked from a list I will publish at a later date.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 Sheffield 34%Kent 28%Wagner 18%Abreu 2%Bell, Putz, Valverde 0 votes.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 19, 2019 Author Posted November 19, 2019 The funny thing is that, if you had told me Bell was still active, I'd've believed you.

Guest 41Forever Guests Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Billy Wagner, 25Jeff Kent, 22 percentGary Sheffield, 19 percentBobby Abreu, 4 percentHeath Bell, 0 percentJ.J. Putz, 0 percentJosé Valverde, 0 percentI think Wagner gets a boost from Lee Smith going in, but he has a long way to go. Kent's still treading water. I think the trend toward posting ballots online means fewer writers will throw away a vote on someone like Bell or Putz.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 My one hunch is Abreu will top 5% after a spate of analytics-driven “you don't realize how good he was” articles, the kind of stuff that wouldn't have moved the needle even five years ago (especially on the more crowded ballots of the period).
