Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 In the meantime, having only slightly to do with Ozuna's poor play tonight, the rout is on to the point where even the Nats bullpen probably can't blow it.And it's also nearing 2-1/2 hours in and they're not yet through the 6th inning ... so I'm calling it a night.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 This is why you don't go walking around believing there's some force at work actually preventing a particular team from doing a particular thing on a particular day. (Except for the Twins. THey'll never beat the MFYs)Lots of moms-basement Mets fans should be eating shit now
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Terrible baserunning by Ozuna too, after that leadoff double in the second. When the game was scoreless.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Here's the funny thing. We have to start rooting for the Nationals starting tonight. Why? Because the only team in baseball to blow a 3-0 lead is the Yankees. I don't want that to ever change. So Washington has to close it out. If the Astros end up pulling this out, we can hate Washington again. But as of right now, the Cardinals are dead to us.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 So yeah, this October, I'm rooting for the Washington Nationals and John Bolton. Just like I expected.

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Author Posted October 15, 2019 Watching the Cardinals' futility, even if it is as a byproduct of Nationals effectiveness, is surprisingly enjoyable, like I forgot how much seeing them lose can be invigorating.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Real 2015 Mets vibes coming from the Nat.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 13 - the number of runs scored by StL in the first three innings of their final game vs Atlanta33 - the number of innings in which they've batted since that outburst (6 + 9 + 9 + 9)2 - the number of runs they've scored during those 33 innings (one of which was unearned)That play by Ozuna was so bad that it actually looked like he waited until he was sure that the pitcher fielded it cleanly ... and only then did he make his move towards 3rd
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 How did the Cardinals win a single game this year? This is the worst team we've seen this year and the Mets played in a division with the Marlins. What a bunch of losers.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 Yadier F'n Molina.OE: That was not an answer to the above question. He just homered, making the score 7-1 Nats.Later

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Posted October 15, 2019 The Washington Nationals ... World Series bound.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2019 Author Posted October 15, 2019 Good for Ryan Zimmerman, given that David Wright vouches for him.Good for Charlie Slowes, who grew up a Mets fan and followed his broadcasting dream to the Nats booth in 2005 and has done a nice job there ever since.Good for the memory of my friend's wife's uncle who bought season tickets as soon as the Expos moved to town, stayed loyal for the rest of his life, which sadly ended before he could experience this, and was super gracious to me Metwise always, but especially in 2015 and 2016.Nationals League Champions. Go figure.

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 (edited) That's not a lot of "Good fors" which says something about the team, the franchise and their fans.Slowes is a Fordham grad and is a good announcer even though he obviously dumbs it down for his audience.Zimmerman is still playing and Wright isn't which is a shame. I liked the way each would decide to smooth out the dirt around 3rd when the other had reached 3B so they could talk.Good for my crazy Nats fan Jenn who has had season-tickets since Day One and has terrorized the Ticket Office since Day Two (and achieved results as her season are now next to the WSH dugout).Still, congratulations and F them. At least the Series is about to start and I won't have to see that disgusting logo around town for much longer... oh crap! Edited October 16, 2019 by Guest
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Peace out, Yankees of the National League. And, you know, fuck off.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2019 Posted October 16, 2019 Simply by making the LCS the Nats left the list of MLB teams without at least a 'final four' appearance in the last twenty seasons (or, in their case, Ever!).The number of teams failing to reach an LCS during that time remains at four as taking out the 1999 season shockingly (to some) puts The Braves onto that list. The other three, oddly all from the NL, are the Padres who fell off the list last year as their last NLCS (and WS) appearance was in 1998, the Pirates (1992), and Reds (1995)If the Nats were to win the WS they would become the 13th different champion in the most recent 20 seasons. Either AL team winning will keep it at 12
