Dear Minnesota,

You know the way you've been vis-a-vis the MFYs? Don't be that way.

Thanks and great luck,

CPF

The Twins didn't impress me at all when the Mets played them. I remember thinking to myself "How can this team be a playoff contender?"

MFY's in 3. No game is close.

They got to play a lot of absolutely terrible teams.

14-4 against the 114-loss Tigers.

14-4 against the 103-loss Royals.

13-6 against the 89-loss White Sox.

6-0 against the 108-loss Orioles.

5-2 against the 94-loss Mariners.

I love the Twins! Tonight they go from the Mall of America's team to All of America's team.

Jake Cave threw me a ball when I saw them at Comerica last month!

Yeah, the Twins are great when they're winning WS over the Cards and Braves. Not so much when they see the MFYs. It's been almost 30 years since you've given me some gratification Twinkies...you're overdue.

The only reason I would've bought a Cardinals World Series pennant would have been to burn it. Just sayin

The great Steve Rushin, in the once great Sports Illustrated, recently explored WTF with the Twins sucking (until now) vs this distasteful opponent.

https://www.si.com/mlb/2019/09/20/new-york-yankees-minnesota-twins-cursehttps://www.si.com/mlb/2019/09/20/new-york-yankees-minnesota-twins-curse

As those two teams await the 2019 playoffs and another possible matchup, Minnesotans are keenly aware (as New Yorkers are not) that the Twins have lost a record 13 consecutive postseason games, an ignominious distinction they share with the Yankees' more famous rivals, the Red Sox. Minnesota's last playoff win was at the old Yankee Stadium on Oct. 5, 2004, in Game 1 of the AL Division Series. Of the 13 losses that have followed, all but three—a sweep by the A's in the '06 ALDS—were to the Yankees, most recently in the '17 wild-card game. For almost the entire 21st century the Bronx Bombers have had Minnesota's number, and that number is still stored in a Nokia flip phone.

The Yankees' inexplicable domination in this century began very differently in the last one. In 1964, a recent graduate of George Washington High in Washington Heights—a Panamanian national then playing for a sandlot team in the Bronx called the N.Y. Cavaliers—traveled a couple of miles across the Harlem River to work out for the Twins at Yankee Stadium. After just a few swings Minnesota officials bundled the 19-year-old out of sight, lest he be seen by a Yankees executive with a fat book of blank checks. They spirited Rodney Cline Carew to an Italian restaurant in the Bronx, the Stella D'Oro, across from the breadstick factory of the same name, and signed the second baseman on the spot. It was a bank heist in broad daylight, and one for which there would be disproportionate karmic payback.

Sooner or later the Twinkies have GOT to have a good series, right? I mean even the stRangers beat the Yanx in the post-season (2010 ALCS 4-2) following a near similar, even if somewhat

shorter, record of post-season ineptness.

1999 ALDS 0-3

1998 ALDS 0-3

1996 ALDS 1-3

Two hours in and they're nearly halfway through!!!

I wish I could blame this on being an AL game but it's not like yesterday's NL games -- 4:07 & 3:23 (for a 2-hit 8-1/2 inning shutout) -- were speeding along either.

See if you can get as many of your hits/HRs as possible with the bases empty, OK Minny?

And while you're at it, see how many walks & errors you can gift the Yanx.

It's this sort of strategy that has you with zero playoff wins since the Reagan administration.

Still, watching opponent bullshit short-porch NYS home runs in the playoffs never gets old.

Ottavino and Kahnle have been used and burned, and gotten 2 outs combined. Now Chad Green is in, and we're not out of the 6th.

Christ, this league.

Yup! I was just about to type the same thing.

I'll start "liking" you guys when you show maybe the slightest tinge of being even vaguely competent.

2 runners on, goes 0-2 on the batter (G. Torres) ... "Hey I got a good idea, let's split the plate with a perfect set-up!!" That it was only a one-run single was the best of all possible outcomes

*** VERY NEXT BATTER***

Gets to 0-2 ... "Hey I got a good idea, let's hit him (G Sanchez) and re-load the bases":

*** VERY NEXT BATTER **

and AGAIN WITH TWO FUCKING STRIKES ... Grand Slam (Didi)

And this is by the pitcher they brought in in the 3rd inning because the starter sucked too much.

But at least on the plus side, the 5th inning just started and it's only taken them slightly over two hours to get there.

This sport is killing itself in slow motion (emphasis on 'Slow') and they seem unable to do a fucking thing about it.

Post-season games to date: 2:55; 3:23; 3:37; 4:15; 4:07; 2:46; 3:18; 3:24
