Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 And Davis gets it done!Come on, Mets. Three chances to tie this.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Shmimmo! Here come the LGM! chants.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Two hits this inning through the 3-4 hole. In this age of shifts, that seems like a rare bird these days.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Wow, bags filled to the top with Mets, no outs, and Boom-Boom coming up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Alonso is in the on-deck circle with an i-Pad checking out the incoming reliever. Not sure I like that.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Gosh, not a pitch near the plate.Don't need an iPad for that.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Reliever Joe Harvey comes in but turns into the Dark Nightmare for Rox fans.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Unless Cano hits a GIDP, I would hit for Lugo next.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Cano DPs the insurance run
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Gwreck prescient
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 (edited) We even manage to hit into GiDPs when the opposition botches the play AND makes a bad throw. Edited September 18, 2019 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Lugo deserves a hug and a kiss from Morganna.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 OK, strap in.Note that Story's hand is hurting him. Maybe bust him inside.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 If nothing else, we've chopped two games off the Nationals in under 24 hours.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Nice 'never say die' kind of win. Now lose, Cubbies and Brew Crew.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Such a lackluster performance to walk away with the win. A lot of head-up-the-ass play, some not-busting-it play.Nothing was right about that double-play. Canó hit it on the button into a spot that's always been a hit for 100 years, even with the infielders cheating for the double play. But Story doesn't even have to reach for it, because he's positioned perfectly. He's right on top of it. He's been making Gold Glove plays all day, but this one is coming in hot. Maybe it comes up on him a little, because it mostly hits his wrist. But even though he blew the catch, he's Trevor Fucking Story, so he's already rotating toward the secondbaseman coming over to cover, and the ball richochets perfectly with the front plane of his body to the second baseman. He gets to the bag in time. He mostly avoids the slide, but his throw is lousy. The firstbaseman has to leap a foot and a half into the air, but it doesn't matter, because Canó is still in second gear, and is out by 10 feet. That said, trading two outs for that run wasn't such a bad deal. It knocked 2.3% off the Mets win likelihood, but it could've been woise.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 If I were a Rockies fan, I'd be a mopey Rockies fan tonight. But I'm a Mets fan, which means I moped for the first eight innings and am modestly giddy tonight.

That ball didn't even ricochet to the 2Bman as much as it ricocheted to the spot where the 2Bman was going to be anyway by the time the ball reached him. He (McMahon) not only didn't have to break stride in order to catch the rebound but he also didn't have to alter his path in order to continue towards the bag. There are trick-shot pool artists who don't get their angles that perfect.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 This game had bad loss written all over it.It will still take a small miracle to catch the Cubs/Brewers, but the requisite miracle is a little smaller today. Yay Mets!
