Guest 41Forever Guests Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Didn't the Mets have someone on the roster who would have made his MLB debut in the 2015 World Series, but didn't get into a game? I remember the Royals had someone who did -- Mondesi -- but I thought the Mets had someone who potentially could have -- an infielder? Was it Matt Reynolds?
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Not his MLB debut, but the guy you're looking for is Matt Reynolds.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2019 Author Posted August 28, 2019 (edited) Elster didn't get any hits in ‘86, but he did play (and also in ‘88).Reynolds was added to the NLCS roster after the illegal slide, vicious assault, and profoundly erroneous officiating debacle in the division series in which Ruben Tejada's leg was broken. He didn't play but it would have been his ML debut if he had. He was removed from the roster in favor of Juan Uribe for the World Series.1. Ed Hearn2. Kevin Plawecki3. Cal Koonce4. Randy Niemann5. Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2019 Author Posted August 29, 2019 Steven was the starting pitcher for 3 games in ‘15.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Probably some bullpen guy from the '16 team...Eric Goeddel?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2019 Author Posted August 29, 2019 Goeddel was not on the wild card game roster in ‘16, but he did pitch in the division series in ‘15.Anderson Hernandez made it into a couple of LCS games in 2006; he ran for LoDuca as the winning run in the bottom of the ninth of Game 7.There are 5 players left on the board from the 2016 Wild Card game roster...but another 2 players left from elsewhere.

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2019 Author Posted August 29, 2019 Yes to Salas. Neither Matz nor DeGrom was on the roster for the Wild card game in ‘16. But keep in mind the quiz is only looking for players who never made it into a postseason game. DeGrom started 4 games in the ‘15 postseason.1. Ed Hearn2. Kevin Plawecki3. Cal Koonce4.
