G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 (edited) The Nationals now have to face the Mets, who've won 13 of 14. Gonna be a tough test of Washington's abilities.Marcus Stroman puts on a Mets home uniform and pitches in it for the first time.Stephen Strasburg goes for the Nats.Str vs. Str -- strive to strafe and ward off strife as we stride upward! So let us stretch our streak. Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Wait a minute ... y'mean we have to wait until Friday to beat somebody?!?That just doesn't seem right.
Guest 41Forever Guests Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I know the Major League record for most consecutive games with a home run is eight. Can't find the Mets team record. Polar Bear is pretty locked in!

bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Strasburg's last game: 9 ER in 4 2/3 @ AZ. His previous 2 games: 1 ER in 13 IP at home against LAD and COL. He has pitched well against the Mets this season in NY, 13 2/3 IP, only 2 ER. The Mets beat him on March 30 in WSH.http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/30373/stephen-strasburghttp://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/30373/stephen-strasburgMarcus Stroman has faced various Nationals over the years:http://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/32815/marcus-stromanhttp://www.espn.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/32815/marcus-stroman
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 A win in the opener would be a nice statement. But being a long-time Met fan, I also worry about the trap door opening.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2019 Posted August 8, 2019 Screw the statement, it's practically crucial.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 Just under 13 1/2 hours to first pitch.
LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I have nervous.Good nervous? I think. But still. The Nats aren't just a step up in class-- they're also playing nearly as well as Metsie. This is where we're proven either for real or frauds, right?
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Lol - ¡Tengo nervioso tambien!I mean despite all this crazy newfound success would anyone be surprised onebit if Strasburg throws a 6-7 inning zero-run one-hit gem while up a good 4-5 runs?WSN (61‑53) Stephen Strasburg (RHP, 14-5, 3.72)NYM (59‑56) Marcus Stroman (RHP, 6-11, 3.07)

G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Author Posted August 9, 2019 Greetings from the Citi Field press box. Can confirm the joint is jumping (except in here where jumping is not permitted).
Methead Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I'm starting to think we may have something here with this Stroman guy
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 Stroman seems a bit amped.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 9, 2019 Posted August 9, 2019 I'm in Rockville Centre visiting my mother. Eating at an Italian restaurant called Nick's. They have three TVs: Yankees, Fox News, and preseason football. Not even a home team in the football game.
