Guest 41Forever Guests Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 What a shame. A potentially great career derailed by injuries. He pitched some great games for us. Some unneeded drama, too. But he was magic.If we trade a starter, I wouldn't mind giving him some time at Syracuse to see if he can get back to a useful form. A humbler Dark Knight might be a good thing.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 22, 2019 Posted July 22, 2019 I'm tempted to say that it's been downhill for him since he blew off practice before the playoffs began, but he had a really strong start against the Cubs, and a decent one in Game Two of the World Series.Obviously, he was terrific in Game Five until he seemingly self-saboutaged. You don't want to glean any sort of causality where it doesn't really belong.I guess it would be more accurate to suggest it was downhill from that point.

Say what you want, he told his agent to go to hell and put the team first in 2015. I'll cheer for him every time I see him.

Quality pitching even moreso.And with all the drastic steps the powers-that-be are currently taking with regard to manipulating workloads to sustain pitchers' health, I'm not convinced it's been particularly effective.

I don't know what the answer is, either. I appreciate that they're trying to do *something,* though.

When Harvey was baseball's best pitcher for about two, two and a half months in 2013, the Mets were paying Harvey less than half a mil for that whole season.
