It's looking like another Mets season reduced to rooting for personal accomplishments. Last year, it was Jake deGrom's triumphant Cy Young quest. This year, it's Pete Alonso's ROY and potentially record-setting HR campaigns and Squirrel McNeil's pursuit of an improbable batting title in the Coors Field era, where a Rockie wins that award seemingly every other year.

Let's hope Wheels can limit the longball damage today but you know, I'm not real optimistic.



I don't know how the team isn't completely in the dumps as this "defining" road trip finally ends 3-7 so far with two embarrassing blowouts, losing two 4-games series to division rivals including 3 straight Ls to the reeling Phillies all on multirun lead giveways; 2 Seth Lego bedshits; 2 crushing walkoff losses; 2 coaches fired; unchecked aggression toward the fourth estate engendering fake, insincere apologies or in the case of Vargas, insensitive tone-deaf justification.

I prefer the maroon-era Phils with a stylized seam in the middle of the P, making the negative space look like a baseball.

One indignity we haven't yet suffered on this trip is getting no-hit but Mets haven't given up on that dream yet.

Rosario swinging at the first pitch was irritating, but typical.

I just found out that Frontier Communications will NOT be renewing their deal with SNY, so I'll be a fan on radio only (except for those dreadful ESPN and FOX games).
