There's gotta be more to it than this right? I'm trying to think of the worst, sleeziest, snarkiest way someone can say this that would make a guy go off like that. I can't picture it. Let's unfold what happened.

*Tim Healey, beat writer for Newsday, says to Mickey after the presser "See you tomorrow Mickey".

*Mickey responds by cursing him out, calling him a MF

*Mickey comes back out, cursing him out again.

*Vargas gets violent and has to be physically restrained.

There's gotta be some history there right? Healey's one of the good guys on the beat. Not afraid to take ownership to task when necessary, critical but fair to the Mets. I hope the Callaway presser provides some details about any perceived slight. I'm guessing it will just be "miscommunication".

Well I think Mickey was unnerved by the questioning and interpreted the "see ya tomorrow" remark as a flippant and passive-aggressive comment on his unraveling job security.

OTOH, Mickey is apparently managing tonight which makes me think he can perhaps get away with still more. Miurder?

This has got to be it.

I thought about that. That is a real stretch no? I feel like that warrants a "What's that supposed to mean you little shit?" Or "Yeah, real funny, wiseass."

But dropping MF's and coming back out to curse him out again?

I think it's plausible that Callaway has had enough , he is being held back and told what to do by a slick GM....he flipped and this was it

Previous conversations on record between Callaway and Healey:

Healey: Hey, Mick. How's your day going?

Callaway: Go fuck yourself, Tim.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Healey: Yo, Mick, have you seen the new Toy Story?

Callaway: Yeah, I went with your mother, Douchebag. She didn't watch.

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Healey: Thanks for your time, Mickey.

Callaway: Yeah? How 'bout you come back and say that while you're eating my ass out, you fucking little shit!

Healey: Morning, Mick. That the crossword?

Callaway: Yeah, I need a five-letter word for "Get the fuck out of my locker room."

Healey: Always a pleasure, Skipper.

Honey, I've decided it's time for me to work blue.

It's funny, but it seems Mickey's little tirade has to some degree taken the spotlight off the disastrous game decisions that precipitated it.

The Mets can fire Mickey about the same time they become sellers. Possibly after the Phlly series. 2019 Mets brought to you by Kahns

I am really note sure if Heyman is joking but he tweets that the Mets plan to get Callway and Healey together today in a room....

Puma tweeting the Mets will hold a team meeting today...............it's becoming a weekly thing now

Healy: Hey Mick, want to see a picture of my new puppy?

Callaway: What the fuck is that supposed to mean, smartass?

Healy: It's just a puppy. It's cute. I thought you might...

Callway: Fuck you and your cute puppy doggy style.

Healy: Hey, Mick, I'm going to grab a cuppa. Can I get you something?

Mickey: Yeah, you can get me a cup of go fuck yourself, dickwad.

Healy: Uh, right. Sugar with that?

Mickey: Sugar with THIS, asshole

Based on what I gleaned from the press availabilities provided by Van Wagenen, Callaway and Vargas, they're all dismal people.

Posted

I love how Vargas described it as an "unfortunate distraction" like it was a fender bender caused by someone else that made him late for an appointment instead of he and Mickey losing their tempers and acting like dickhead bros.

Posted

And like the real victim isn't Healey, but the general focus of the baseball club.

Newsday is still a key radio sponsor, aren't they?
