I believe I kicked off the hot April streak last year. Let me see if I can find that same magic. Steven Matz against some shit-ass Florida pitcher, 7:10 PM start.

I do love me some weeknight baseball. Kicks off right when we're finishing dinner and lasts until bedtime.

Yeah, he's inherited all the pent-up hate I used to have for Harvey.

This is a relatively recent development in my evolving fandom, hating on a particular guy like this. It's not really me. I mean, I wanna see Matz do well. It's just, he gets more credit for good and less scrutiny for bad, than just about anyone. So I feel like I have to support the underdogs, the Scrutinizers.

OK, Davis's throwing is a bit of a concern.

Both on his lob throws on potential DP balls to 2nd (twice now) and also on his harder throw across the diamond, he just doesn't seem CAHNfident that the ball is going to end up where it needs to go.

Davis' yips seem to be multiplying. I REALLY hope that non-DP doesn't cost Matz, as most extra baserunners seem to end up doing.

Might have to flip a table if he's in the lineup tomorrow

Or if he's still in there in the 7th

The guy who scored the go-ahead and potential winning run should have been out twice before he ever reached home; once at 1st and then again at 3rd

The Marlins should try a nine-pitchers/nine-innings strategy, cuz all we do facing pitchers for the 1st time is go down on 3 Ks

Lagares going oppo yard was somehow more surprising than Davis' yips

Whatever, man. I'm bullish on angry, motivated Lagares.

I was mentally lamenting, right up until he hit it, how much the absence of J.D. Lowrie is an infliction of Lagares at bats on us this season.

Surprisingly effective Petey.

I would've been happier, I think, if they'd kept McNeil in at 2B and double-switched Cano out.

fucking lucky ass marlins. that was Jeter-esque defense right there - in the right place by accident!
