Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 BetOnline.Ag's odds have the Mets' over/under at 84.5, tied for the fifth-best in the National League with the Brewers and Phillies. In the NL, that puts the Mets behind the Dodgers (94.5), Cardinals (88.5), Cubs (88.5), and Nationals (87.5).Is this a reasonable line?
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I guess so. As a bettor, I'm prob taking the under, though.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Have to wait until Harper isn't officially a Met.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I guess betting now means you lay down your money before the rosters are set. So if you're Philly, you take the over and hope for Harchado I guess. I would take the over as of today. I think that the Mets are realistically about 86-87 wins. That will change depending on what the rest of the division does between now and Opening Day.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 I would take the over.I was in AC recently and saw the Mets had opened at 40-1 to win the WS - odds I would have taken. They were listed at 22-1 and i was going to make a small wager for fun. When I went to the counter I was informed it had moved to 11-1. I passed on that (still 22-1 elsewhere, including Fanduel, if you are looking)
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Over. 90 wins easy. #YaGottaBelieve
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 What's the Over/Under on the number of injuries, diseases, or medical conditions that we've never ever heard of before?

And not just that they are rare, but they absolutely wipe out a career. I've been watching baseball since the early 80's. But in the last five years watching the Mets, I learned about:1. Valley Fever. Career ending2. Spinal Stenosis. Career ending.3. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Not career ending, but debilitating. 4. Hand foot and mouth disease. Couple of days.5. Heel calcification. 6-8 months or forever. Who knows.6. Strained finger ligaments. A start or two.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 On the positive side, this past season was the Mets' 57th straight with no outbreaks of Ebola in the clubhouse.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 I'd have said 85. But barring the Nationals re-signing Harper, I'm much more worried about the Phillies and Braves.

LWFS Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 How are the Braves below 84.5 in this market? Is the Hotlanta betting action that slow?I hope for over. I feel the under.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Until my deathbed, I'll remember Mike Francesa referring to Ike Davis' valley fever as "jungle fever."Why did we wake up one morning and decide that we wanted to fill all our positions of authority with sub-literates?
