A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Phillies sign David Robertson for 2 years/$23M. This seems a real nice signing.https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/01/phillies-sign-david-robertson.htmlhttps://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/01/phillies-sign-david-robertson.html
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 A bit more AAV than Familia, but they get a club option for the third year. Robertson is older but he has a good record of staying healthy. Certainly not a bad signing, by any stretch.I'm still waiting for the Phillies to get stupid, as their owner suggested.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Agreed. Roberts is older but has been very good. Phillies are going to be no easy out.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Zach Britton to the MFYs. All the best FA bullpen arms are getting snapped up.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 Yanx sign long-time Colorado 2B DJ LeMahieu for not a whole lot more than what the Brodie bunch paid for Lowrie: 2 years @ $24 mil (vs 2 @ 20)The now 30 y/o (31 come July) eight-year vet is two years removed from his BA-winning season of .348 in 2016 and of course is being removed from Coors Field where his career OPS sits 162 higher at home as compared to on the road [835 vs 673 or 121 OPS+ vs 78]This certainly seems to signal the end of their pursuit of Manny Machado and it gives them a crowded IF situation similar to that of the Mets as the combo of LeMahieu, Torres, Tulowitski, Andujar and eventually Gregorius look to cover 2B, SS, and 3BRussel Martin was dealt back to the Dodgers where he came up and where played from 2006-2010The 36 (in Feb) y/o Martin has been to the Bronx, Pittsburgh, and Toronto since last playing in LAThe Blue Jays get a couple of young'uns in return.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 Do you think it ends the Machado pursuit? I feel like if they get him they deal Andujar for pitching.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 I think the Yanx would deal Andujar in a second so, no, it doesn't cut it off entirely. To me Andujar's got a definite shot-his-load/soph-slump/sell-high type of vibe to him to the Yanx would love to cash in on at the expense of some GM blinded by pinstripes. He's got pop but doesn't walk and is a shitty fielder.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Drew Pomeranz goes to the Giants for a year and $1.5M, with incentives that could bring it up to $5M.And Jason Vargas is still our fifth starter.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Things have not gone well for either half of JCL's proposed 'challenge' trade from a year ago: Harvey for Pomeranz26 games in 2018 for Pomeranz but just 11 of those were starts, 6.08 ERA; 1.77 WHIP, a pretty ugly figure that's not helped out at all by his rate of nearly 4 BB/9He just turned 30. Harvey gets to that milestone in late March
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 you get what give!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Brad Brach to Cubs. 1 year, $3 million.Kinda seems like a steal there.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Yeah, the middle and lower tier free agents just want to get signed at this point, and there are bargains to be had.

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Greg Holland goes to Arizona for $3.5M guaranteed and another $3M in incentives.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 To make room for Neil Walker, the Marlins have DFA'd Nick Wittgren, who had a solid half a season for them in 2018. He did worse in the PCL, but hey, who doesn't?Cecchini for Wittgren is a deal waiting to happen. The Mets would still have to clear room on the roster, but they can DFA Hanhold like they should have along.
