Grey's Anatomy last night. the new(ish?) bone doctor was on a consult in NY talking to the other doctor

It was part of my wish.

You wished for perfect pizza? From a fairy godmother? Cancer kids who are in as bad a shape as I was get wishes.

Osteosarcoma.

Age 10.

Full remission.

What'd you wish for? - Baseball game at Shea Stadium.

- Yeah.

I got to meet my favorite player, Dwight Gooden.

I remember thinking, "I'll be back.

" And the next time was with the Mariners as the team doctor.

That is impressive.

Nothing will beat that first time out here.

Actor (Chris Carmack) was born in 1980, so guess the timeline kinda checks out (the actual Grey's timeline is probably a disaster) though a search says he's never tweeted about the Mets himself and he's from WAshington/Maryland

He's watching a game on a tablet on the plane ride back before a conversation, we get this in the transcript. (It's not someone we know announcing it)

"the bat.

Fires.

Slaps it to right.

That one's gonna split the gap and head all the way to the wall! One run is in.

Here comes Beasley around third, but cut off by Montanari, and he's, of course, standing up"

I'm getting this second hand: in Avengers Endgame, there is a shot of CitiField and one of the characters says "I miss the Mets".

Yep. Right at the beginning.

”What's the score?”

"Mets are down by two."

“What else is new?”

—Conversation between Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) and the guard at the stage door of the 46th Street Theatre in the summer of 1975 during the original run of Chicago, portrayed in Episode 7 (“Nowadays”) of Fosse/Verdon, May 21, 2019

CBS Sunday Morning just showed a story on the discovery of the Clotilda, the last slave ship, which has been found.

One of the people interviewed was Cleon Jones. I heard the name and saw he was wearing a Mets cap, and the anchor confirmed it was him.

Yeah, much of the population of Jones' Africatown, outside of Mobile, are descendants of the illegal cargo of The Clotida. This was 52 years after the banning of slavery imports.

Depending on how you define things, though, it probably wasn't the last ship smuggling slaves into the US, though it appears to have been the last of the Atlantic slave ships from Africa.

With regard to Jim Brewer, apart from the things he exaggerates/embellishes, he somehow gets two key facts wrong in his summary of events.

On the May 27, 1972, edition of American Top 40, heard on great radio stations like SiriusXM 7 this weekend, Casey Kasem introduced the No. 22 song, "Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" by Paul Simon with a geography lesson regarding the location of Corona. Casey told his listeners then and now that Corona is near Shea Stadium, "home of the New York Mets, who play some pretty tough baseball." It will be noted that when this particular AT40 was recorded, the Mets were comfortably in first place, riding an eleven-game winning streak.

Pretty tough, indeed. Just like the Queen of Corona.

I was listening to that yesterday in the car, but an UNNAMED PERSON was talking over Casey's intro.

Not sure if this has been covered, but in the new Spider-Man movie, Peter Parker has a Mike Piazza pennant in his room!
