Always
Be
Closing

And remember, first prize is a trip to the ALCS
Second prize is a set of steak knives
Third prize is 'You're Fired'

All RHBs this inning (w/the SW-hitting Hicks and once Boone made the obvious move of PH'ing McCucheon for Gardner) so maybe not an ideal time to employ Sale,
but this version of the Yanx isn't nearly as left-handed as their typical teams have been.

I'm going to borrow from a Twitter buddy: if they get insurance runs here, they should TOTALLY send out David Price to close.

Only if they got 17 of them
Bryce Harper didn't hit off his dad in the HR derby the way Gary Sanchez does off of Price

I don't like how this is going

Yeah, that wasn't good.

So, instead, let's talk about how the story is already forming to portray Judge as this generation's Jeter (he's clutch, he's a true Yanqui) while Stanton is being cast in the part of Alex Rodriguez, the
out-of-town import with the big contract whom they could really do without.

Yup, no matter what happens tonight/Thursday, this inning will be the microcosm of that narrative.

Especially with an idea that Kimbrel/Cora would rather have dealt with Judge on the bases, as opposed to making it a 2-run game with one swing!

shut it, Jeets.

Just kidding.

This is pretty stupid

OK, the run is meaningless. The out was important.
Tying and winning runs still where they were.

Kimbrel needs to realize that Calvin Schiraldi is not a role model.

If necessary, I’d settle for someone being thrown out at the plate on a single.

But would prefer a strikeout.

In retrospect, I like that it happened that way.
Build their hopes up while giving them the impression that 'Yaqui magic' is going to come through ... and then it doesn't.

Remember earlier this season when some media and Yankee fans thought Severino was the best pitcher in New York? Yeah that was cute.

Ditto that brief moment where Gary Sanchez was considered by them on Mike Piazza’s level!

I would have settled for Hernandez calling strike 3 on a pitch that missed the plate by 3 inches

This is acceptable too

So the south Bronx is basically the go-to spot for the Red Sox to clinch, right?
2004 of course. And this year it was the AL East and now the ALDS
