Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 I'll have to be sure to visit there if I ever want to be motivated to poke my eyes out.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 How do you interpret the “JUST RETIRE ALREADY” comments every time David Wright’s return process gets reported on?Also Syndergaard has a public persona rep as a bulldog “good teammate” type that Cespedes has never had, public perception anyway, after four teams now.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 Not to steer off Cespedes too much, but this is part of the twitterspherethat is officially Mets? Like where we get lineups from but a different section?Out and out bigotry is tolerated on an MLB twitter account?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 No, it's a community of followers sharing a hashtag. Many are kind. Many are unkind. No small amount are miserable and diseased.

I don't totally understand some of the workings of Twitter.Let's say your entire office is Mets fans and they're all talking about the Mets. #MetsTwitter is the 3-4 guys over there that you'd rather didn't voice their opinion. Most of the time you just ignore those people, but sometimes someone you talk to more regularly about the Mets happens to also be talking to one of them and you overhear it. Oh and the company newsletter (the beat guys) love poking the bear and talking about those 3-4 guys opinions because they're #hottakesIn most cases those 3-4 guys are unaware that they're the undesirables as well.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 I don't get why Mets Twitter gets a bad rap. I mean, twitter is a vehicle where you can choose what you want to follow and block out the others. No?So in the workplace example, you can literally fill your break room with only those whose voices you want to hear.

It's toxic, though, as any Twitter group can be; a bunch of assholes apparently harassed one of the female Mets fan Tweeters (Miss Met, IIRC?) a few weeks back so much that she deactivated her account for a while.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 3, 2018 Posted July 3, 2018 I was just citing where the toadstools can be found.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Understood. I’m just saying toadstools are everywhere. Unfortunately. Twitter, Facebook, family reunions. I like Mets Twitter. I get fast news, different perspectives, and opinions of those that aren’t worried about getting their press credentials revoked by the Wilpons. It’s refreshing for me to know others are like minded. Sure there are jerks. I don’t follow them. Pretty simple.

What percentage of Mets fans* do you supposereally are analyzing injury recovery actions based on black, white or whatever?OE: or the press/blog worldPeople don't often sit down and say to themselves, " I think I'm going to let race color my perceptions of things and act accordingly." They just, y'know, do so.It doesn't mean that's the only factor in the varying levels of slack allotment/crud biscuit apportionment among injury-rehabbers... but it is very likely A factor. That pointing that out upsets you or strikes you as BS or makes other people want to label the pointer-outer a "SJW" or "divider" doesn't make that less true.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 And that’s not to say this affects everyone’s thinking. But it certainly affects some. Anyway, back to Cespedes, last night’s game made me realize that the Mets are just not going to win until he comes back. They are terrible without him. Proven time and time again. Maybe next year we have him train with someone not named “Barwis”. And I know this sounds like scapegoating, but you know, if only to shake things up.
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 SJW? Give me a break. I was wrong, apparently some fans think Cubansare lazy slackers. Please don't lecture me or put me on trial over other people'sprejudices.
dgwphotography Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Apparently, Cespedes started a running program yesterday, running a series of 60 yard sprints at 75%.Also, apparently Edgy is the biggest racist here. ;-)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 4, 2018 Posted July 4, 2018 Give me a few more trips to the vending machine and I just might be.
