ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 I already saw a reference to the Mets being sellers at the trade deadline. Ouch
Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 That reference has been going on for weeks.Cooby needs to start tomorrow's IGT.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 If Gonzalez isn't going to-- at LEAST-- be close to flawless in the field, then what the living duck is he doing here?

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Speechless over here. 3 runs in our last 51 innings. I've never seen anything like this.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 This is going to be the least surprising sweep ever.

OuchIf they deal deGrom I'm taking the rest of the season off. Maybe next season too. Maybe three!I feel the same way about Thor but I might,...just might, let that slide. Depends on what we get. I want MLB ready players, not guys 2 or 3+ years out.Our window is closing fast.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 I don’t believe the window is closing on this core. deGrom and Noah are still young and under control. Nimmo and Conforto are stars. Rosario still has great potential. Lugo and Gsellman are weapons in the pen and Alonso is on his way. The problem is that they are not supplementing this core. You can rebuild again. But unless we hit the jackpot and are able to develop an entire team like Houston, we will be in this same position 7 years from now when the rebuild materializes again. And we will be lucky to have someone as good as Jake or Noah.

I gotta believe that.IMO if they blow it up, go rebuild now, and trade deGrom (and maybe Thor), the window is shut for the foreseeable future. But hey, that's just my opinion.

Beyond that you're hopelessly optimistic. Nimmo, Conforto, Rosario and Alonso (?) have shown little sustained ML production. The love affair with our young "stars" is baffling. Cespedes makes this lineup work-- without him they are punchless. This is a .500 team. Windows aren't closing because they were never open. They 11-1 start was a mirage.
